HENNEMIER John M. "Jack" Hennemier, SO, of Rock Hill. S.C., died Nov. 4 at his home in Westminster Towers after a long illness. He had been a summer resident of Holden Beach since 1 %8. A graveside service will be held 1 p.m. Sunday. Nov. 14. in Richmond Memorial Park. Rockingham. Mr. Hennemier was a native of Savannah, Ga., an inductee of the Greater Savannah Athletic Hall of Fame and a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. attaining the rank of lieutenant commander. He played and coached football at the collegiate level before moving into professional football He was graduated from Duke University, where he played and coached under Wallace Wade. As a senior he was both center and line backer at 147 pounds, and was named Most Valuable Player and won All American Honorable Mention. He coached football at Washington and Lee University and The Uni versity of Maryland as well as at Duke. While defensive coordinator at Maryland his team won the college national championship, allowing op ponents only 31 points in 10 games. Mr. Hennemier 's pro career began with a stint as head coach of the Calgary Stampeders. He later retired after 18 years as pro scout for the NFL Denver Broncos. He was married to the late Mayre Virginia Blackwell. Survivors include two nieces, Virginia W. Stockbridge of Houston, Texas, and Dale W. Hard! of Nor folk, Va.; and a nephew, Joseph R.
