Newton Named Employee Of Year During Brunswick Hospital Banquet Registered nurse Carol Newton was named "Employee of the Year" during The Brunswick Hospital's third annual Employee Service Awards banquet Nov. 5 at Sea Trail Plantation. In presenting the award. Helen Street, interim hospital CEO said. "Carol deserves recognition for the super job she has done with the preadmission program. I have heard a good many positive comments from staff members as well as pa tients. She has a good rapport with the physicians and hospital staff and is very pleasant with her patients." Newton received a plaque and a cash prize. She is The Brunswick Hospital's third "Employee of the Year" since the program was imple mented in 1991 . Other candidates for the award were Teresa Anderson, medical records manager; Ethel Hewett, di etary services; Judy Walker, nursing; Cathy Lewis, administration; Mic hael Hill, engineering; Jean Brown, business office; Clara Smith. Completing ten years of service were Cindy Champion, laboratory Traveling Exhibition On Black Migration In Wilmington The Cape Fear Museum on Nov. 19 will open the highly acclaimed Smithsonian traveling exhibition "Field to Factory; Afro-American Migration, 1915-1940" m the muse um's east gallery. The exhibition describes the movement of southern blacks to the North in search of better jobs and a more promising life. If will run through Jan. 9, 1994. The photopanel exhibition incor porates oral histories and personal artifacts to examine the migration of southern blacks to the North. Divided into three sections, "Field to Factory" examines life for southern blacks at the turn of the century, their journey to the North, and the new northern urban world experienced by blacks from the rural South. "Field to Factory" evolved from a major exhibition at the Smithso nian's National Museum of Ameri can History. It was the First in-depth Smithsonian exhibition to focus on a period of America's overall social and demographic history from a black perspective. Cape Fear Museum is at 814 Market Street.
