Marie Dolan Wins Brierwood
Ladies Points Tournament
Marie Dolan finished with 58
points to lead the first flight in the
Brierwood Ladies Golf Association
points tournament Nov. 16.
Runnere-up in the top flight in
cluded Joanna Lang with 57 points
and Toni lossi with 56. Mary
Schaack had low putts in the flight
with 27.
Second flight winners were Elsie
Rickbeil with 58 points. Ginny
Campbell with 56 and Ruth Linder
with 55. Rickbeil had low putts with
31.
In the third flight, Ellie Scutt and
Carolyn McCroskey tied for first
place with 57 points each. Shirley
Groff was third with 53. and Mc
Croskey had low putts.
Sally Dye and Emily Laughlin
had 56 points apiece to tie for first
place in the fourth flight. Ginny
Anzelone was third with 54 points.
Bettilou Bayne had low putts with
32.
Ann Causes chipped in for birdie
at the 17th hole and also chipped in
at the eighth. Pierrette Tompkins had
a chip-in at the 13th. Making birdies
were Nancv Bouldin at the first and
Ann Hierman at the 10th.
Sea Trail Men
Golfers competed for individual
low net and low putts in the Sea
Trail Men's Golf Association tour
nament Nov. 16 on the Jones course.
Top finishers in the first flight in
cluded Ron Otten with net 65. Ray
Washam and Stan Risch with rounds
of 67 and Marv Peters with 70. Jim
Jones and John Ewart tied for low
putts with 28 each.
Don Lowensten fired net 69 to
lead the second flight. Tied for sec
ond with scores of 72 were John
Walker. Peter Crockett and Bob
Moore. A1 Cambria had low putts
with 31, followed by George Rowe
and Joe Hasson with 32 each.
In the third flight. Keith Curry
finished first with net 69 and George
Gallop was second with 73. Bud
Tunt and Bob Erbach tied for third
with scores of 74. Don Lowry had
35 putts, and Howard Van Dusen
and Jim Love finished with 36
apiece.
Leading the fourth flight were
Guy Moulton with net 68, John
Stokes with 71 and Ken Harris with
74. Lynn Slimmer and Bill Kimball
tied for fourth with 76. Lou Meyer
and Dutch Geesey tied for low putts
with 34 each.
CS Travel League
Bill McCroskey shot 71 to lead
the first flight in Carolina Shores
Men's Travel League individual low
net "Turkey Shoot" tournament last
Friday at Ocean Isle Beach Golf
Course.
Runners-up included Dan Cuomo
with net 72 and John Farley with 74.
On a match of cards Jack
Baumeister was fourth with 75, fol
lowed by Fritz McCabe and Ron
Little, also with 75.
In the second flight, Ed Johnson
shot 67 and edged Joe McDonough
Old Shallotte Wins
Baptist Tourney
Old Shallotte Baptist Church won
the championship flight in the
Brunswick Baptist Association
Third Annual Captain's Choice Golf
Tournament held Nov. 13 at Brier
wood.
LatTy Shreve, Tony Shreve,
Jeremy Grainger and Harry Teague
represented Old Shallotte and shot
61 to edge the Southport Baptist
team on a match of cards. Calvary
Baptist placed third with a 63.
In the first flight. Mill Creek
Baptist placed first with a score of
71. On a match of cards. Town
Creek took second place and Gospel
Center was awarded third after five
teams finished with 72.

league hosted a two best ball event
at Ocean Isle Beach.
Mike Healy, Jack Baumeister,
Pete Terzo and Roy Morfit finished
first with a score of 123. The team
of Stan Marcisyn. Jerry Rubin, Stu
Thorn and Ken Kav placed second
with 129.
On a match of cards, third place
went to the foursome of Dick Ste
wart, Dan Cuomo. Jack O'Connell
and Boh Corbin with net 130. They
edged John Farley, Bob Matteson,
Joe McDonough and Ken Singleton.
Finishing fifth, also on a card
match, was the team of John Ward.
Chris Torgersen, Tony Santino and
Ed Johnson with 131. Ron Little,
Joe Gainer, John Kellenbach and
Bob Krivos were sixth.
Brierwood Scramble
Two teams tied for first place in
the nine-hole mixed scramble last
Thursday at Brierwood.
John Twomey. Ned Dye, Irene
Bryant and Dede Havenga shot 34
to tie the foursome of Jerry Lula,
Paul Keelev. Janet Twomey and
Sally Dye.
Carolina Shores Men
Dick BaiTeto fired net 75 to lead
the first flight in the Carolina Shores
Men's Golf Association tournament
Nov. 15 at Oak Island.
Runners-up in the top flight were
Bob Wilckens with 76. Jim Deehan
with 79 and John Crane with 79.
In the second flight, Mel Norris
led the way with net 73. He was fol
lowed by John Romero with 75,
Gordon Goodwin with 76 and Jack
McAleer with 76.
Brierwood Men
Dave Harper, Bill Allen, Ray
Wood and Gene Cordisco shot 130
to win the Brierwood Men's Golf
Association tournament last Thurs
day.
F.ach team counted two net scores
on each hole, including the score of
one player designated before each
hole. The winners were 14 under
par.
Finishing second with a round of
133 was the team of Howard Bayne,
Howard Scutt and Barney Martin.
They used a blind draw for their
fourth score.
Third place went to the team of
Don Redding, Emile Vrydaghs and
Bob Allwein with 135. They also
used a blind draw.
On Nov. 15, the team of Odie
Bayne won a best ball event at
Brierwood with a score of 185.
Teams counted the two best balls
on the first six holes, all four balls
on the next three and the three low
scores on the last nine.
Finishing second with 188 was
the foursome of Paul Dunfee, Jim
Crosby, Emile Vrydaghs and Bill
Goldsberry. Howard Scutt, Bob
Allwein and Gary O'Connell placed
third with 190.
Sea Trail Ladies
Two golfers defeated club profes
sional Jeff Davis in the Sea Trail
Ladies Golf Association "Beat The
Pro" tournament last Wednesday on
the Jones course.
Jean Krisher shot net 66 and Ruth
Kivett had a round of 73 to beat
Davis, who shot gross 74.
Making birdies at the fifth hole
were Krisher. Nin Consalvi, Joan
Llewellyn and Jan Riek.
Ruth's Renegades
Pat Taylor finished first in the
Ruth's Renegades low putts tourna
ment last Thursday at the Bay Tree
silver course.
Taylor had 34 putts to win on a
match of cards over Marlyn MacLa
chan and Jean Caiazzo. Maxine
Gray had the low gross of 117 and
low net of 77.
Brierwood Ninettes
Kathy Stoll shot net 14.8 to win
the Brierwood Ninettes tournament
last Friday. Golfers counted scores
on even-numbered holes only.
Runners-up included Jo Paterson
with net 16.7 and Dede Havenga
with 16.9. Stoll had a chip-in for par
at the fourth hole.

Fred Hohorst, John Limberg,

with 127 was the foursome of

Lynn Jerr. Kathy Deming, Lit
Haupt and Dot Troslle finished third
with a score of 128.
Jerr chipped in for birdie at the
18th hole and also carded birdies at
the fourth and 12th holes. Jerr had
low putts for the day with 30.

the first hole.
Lockwood Shootout
Two teams tied for first place in
the weekly Shootout last Wednesday
at Lockwood Golf Links. Turnout
was the largest ever with 71 players.
Fred McGee and John Myers fin
ished at plus 12!* to tie the twosome
of Keith Dickerson and Bill
Bottenus.
Joe Barry and Vic Hahn finished
second at plus 10!*, followed by Earl
Vann and Ed Hecker with plus 10.
