CLUB BRIEFS Holidays Busy For Calabash VFW Members of Calabash VFW Post No. 7288 and its auxiliary are busy this month with holiday preparations. A group will go to the Veterans Administration Hospital in Fayet teville Saturday, Dec. 11. to play bingo and provide refreshments for patients, and deliver 72 ditty bags and 20 pairs of slippers, and a televi sion set and videocassette recorder the post and auxiliary are donating. The gifts were wrapped following the post's Dec. 1 tree-trimming party. Two more parties are planned this month: a Christmas party Dec. 13 at 2 p.m. for residents of Cardinal Care in Shallotie, where auxiliarists spon sor bingo games three times a month year-round; and the post's own Christmas party Dec. 18. Auxiliarists plan a short meeting on Dec. 20, after which members will prepare Christmas baskets and gifts to deliver to needy families in the community the next day. Homes To Be Judged Members of the Holden Beach Beautification Club will be cruising the island next week looking for the houses with the best Christmas dec orations. The club will select first, second and third place winners, said spokes person Rachel Harmon. Initial judging by zone captains will be Sunday night, Dec. 12. Final judging will be Monday, Dec. 13, at 7 p.m. Shell Club Parly The Shell Club of the South Brunswick Islands will hold its Christmas party Dec. 14 at 7 p.m. at the home of Zida Kibler. Waterway Artists Meet The Waterway Art Association will meet Wednesday, Dec. 15, at the Sunset Beach Fire Station on N.C. 179. Special singing entertainment, a visit from Santa Claus, an awards recognition program and special program for the children ae planned. SGA Food Drive Will End Friday The Student Government Asso ciation at West Brunswick High School is collecting non-perishable food for the needy, with contributions welcome from the general public. The food drive ends Friday, Dec. 10. Canned goods and boxed foods may be dropped off at the high school's main office, a news release indicated. Holden Beach Christmas Pageant and Candlelight Service The Town Beautification Committee will present a Christmas pageant Dec. 19 at 4:15 pm on the lawn at Holden Beach Chapel.
