Shores Men's Golf Association best
ball scramble last Saturday.
Finishing second on a match of
cards was the team of Dan Roberts.
Cec Spearin and Murray Palmer, al
so with 69. Both teams used a blind
draw for their fourth scores.
Finishing third with a round of 71
was the team of Gary Mott, Don
Rose, Dick Malatesta and John
Romero. They edged John Schwab,
Dick Derrickson, George Warren
and Mike Abbene on a card match.
Closest-to-the-pin winners were
George Bulbach at the third hole,
Vinnie Fitzgerald at the eighth.
Palmer at the 12th and Schwab at
the 16th.
Last Tuesday, the team of Lee
Gould, Paul Maduri, Art Searby and
Frank Matteson shot 129 to win the
Carolina Shores men's tournament
at Heather Glenn.
Finishing second in the two best
net of foursome event were Les
Meader, Tom Brendgord, John
Ogden and John Healy with a score
of 130.
The team of John Crane, Murray

placed third with a 132.

Four golfers tied for first place in
the Sea Trail Ladies Golf
Association crossover tournament
last Wednesday on the Jones course.

In the second flight. Ann Holman
finished first with net 31. Birgit
Carpenter and Irene Jones tied for
second place with scores of 33.

On Dec. 6, two teams tied for first
in the Brierwood men's tournament.

par 66 and placed first on a match of
cards. Tied for second, also with
rounds of 66, were (he teams of Ray
Washam and Gene Williams, and
John Murphy and John Ewart.

sten and Wayne Ruff shol 63 to win
on a card match over Bob Moore
and Stan Risch.

Gauntlet Hosts
Brunswick County's version of
the Ryder Cup. a match between the
top American and F.uropean golfers,
will he played Jan. IS at The Gaunt
let at St James Plantation.
Instead of the Ryder Cup's inter
national competition, the Brunswick
Cup will feature competition among
teams from 10 local golf courses.
The winning team will hold the cup
for one year.
