TRENT EUGENE PHELPS ...Shannon Renee Bardin CLUB BRIEFS Shallotte Lions Raise $2,300 The Shallottc Lions at their Dec. 16 meeting announced 2,005 tickets had been sold for their White Cane program, netting $2,300 to be given to the N.C. Lions Foundation for its program of grants to the blind and sight- and hearing-impaired. The amount raised was a 25 per cent increase over 1992. Winners of the drawing held for White Cane were Russell Brown and Kay Dyson, both of Shallotte. Guest speaker at the meeting was Lion Richard Durham, district White Cane chairman, of the Golds boro Downtown Club, who spoke on the program's goals and objec tives. The club's next meeting will be Thursday, Jan. 6. Visitors are wel come. Focus On Santa Santa Claus was the focus of the Christmas meeting of the Long Bay Garden Club, held at the home of Becky Kirtley in Brierwood Estates, Shallotte. Kirtley and her mother operate a company that designs and sculptures Santa Claus figures. For the program she presented a slide program on "The Evolution of Santa Claus" and gave a tour of her home, decorated for the holidays, and the studio where the Santa figures are made. Member Jean Russ reported that the Christmas auction held in Nov ember at the home of Vicki Jones was a "huge success," with profits designated for Hope Harbor Home. VIC Is Club Topic The Volunteer and Information Center will help make Christmas happier for 718 families this year. Executive Director Pete Barnette told members of the South Bruns wick Islands Rotary Club recently. The center has coordinated efforts by volunteers, area churches, civic organizations and businesses to pro vide food, clothing and toys to the households. Barnette also showed a videotape that detailed other human needs served year-round by VIC, a United Way agency. Seniors To Meet The Town Creek Senior Citizens will meet on Thursday. Shallotte 754-5437 Bardin-Phelps Wedding Vows Spoken At Lefties Grove Shannon Renee Hardin of Boones Neck became the bride of Trent Eugene Phelps of Supply in a 3 p.m. double-ring ceremony Nov. 13 al Letties Grove Church of Shallotte. The Rev. Maurice Milligan per formed the ceremony. The bride is the daughter of Larry and Ouida Richardson of Roberson ville, formerly of Boones Neck. The bridegroom is the son of Lula Mae Phelps of Supply and the late B.W. Phelps Jr. The bride, given in marriage by her stepfather, Larry Richardson, wore a white formal floor-length gown of satin with sposabeiia lace. The fitted bodice was hand-beaded in pearls and sequins. The V neck line was accented with pearls. The long sheer sleeves were enhanced with beaded cut-outs. Satin bows with pearls adorned the shoulders, and a candy box bow accented the back waistline. The sheath skirt was embellished with beaded motifs and was etched in lace. The chapel-length detach able train was enhanced with lace motifs and encircled in sposabeiia lace. Matron of honor was Sheila Tom linson of Wilson, the bride's aunt. Maid of honor was Amy Jones of Supply. Bridesmaids were Cynthia Long, sister of the groom, and Kim berly Todd. both of Supply. Junior bridesmaid was Leah Long of Sup ply. the groom's niece. The bridesmaids wore two-piece fitted suits of fuchsia satin with off the-shoulder jackets featuring satin rosettes on the front, complemented with pearl and rhinestonc buttons. Their skirts were straight and tea length. and each attendant wore matching elbow-length gloves of satin fuchsia. Flower girl was Ericka Babson, daughter of David and Charlotte Babson of Ash. Ringbearer was Jos hua Long of Supply, the groom's nephew. Best man was Warren Phelps of Supply, the groom's brother. Ushers were Phillip Long of Supply, broth er-in-law of the groom; Vance Johnston of Wilson, uncle of the bride; Joseph Sullivan of Shallotte. and Henry Gales of Shallolle. The wedding ceremony was de signed and written by the bride. A portion of the ceremony was dedi cated to Ouida Richardson, the bride's mother; Lula Mae Phelps, the groom's mother; and l:lla Jo Johnston, the bride's grandmother. A fresh tloral arrangement was placed in the church sanctuary in memory of B.W. Phelps Jr., the groom's late father. Music during the wedding cere mony was provided by Sandra Du ra n and Chris Stanley. A reception at Lockwood Folly Golf Course Clubhouse followed the ceremony, catered as a wedding gift to the bride and groom by the bride's aunt. Linda Wheeler of Wilson.
