N.C. 21 1, Southport, 8 p.m. Sign Up For EMT Courses At First Class Next Week Courses begin next week for per sons who want to take basic or ad vanced emergency medical techni cian training or gain recertification. Danni Moore will instruct an EMT-Basic course starting 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 3, at the Calabash Em ergency Medical Service Building on N.C. 179, with registration at the first class meeting. A recertification program will be offered in conjunc tion with the class. Two other EMT-Basic classes are slated. One class begins Tuesday, Jan. 4 at 9 a.m. at the Leland Volun teer Rescue Squad Building, with Nancy Long as instructor. Another begins at 6:15 p.m. Jan. 4 at Coast line Volunteer Rescue Squad Build ing in Supply, taught by Pinta Todd. Those who are already certified as EMT-Basic are eligible to sign up for an Emergency Medical Techni cian-Defibrillator (EMT-D) course that begins Tuesday, Jan. 4. The class meets at 7 p.m. in the Bruns wick County Emergency Services Building at the government center near Bolivia. The instructor will be Eddie Brown, county assistant direc tor of emergency medical services. A class will begin Tuesday, Feb. 8 for those who wish to prepare for in termediate level (EMT-I) certifica tion. Four levels of training are provid ed on a continuous basis through Brunswick Community College's EMT program. General Education-i Dev elopment (GED) tests will he given at Brunswick Community College throughout January. Students can receive individual ized help in preparing for the GED exams in the learning lab on BCC's main campus. GED preparatory classes are offered at locations throughout Brunswick County and may be entered at any time. All GED exams except for the writing test will be given as follows: Main campus, I p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 11, and 5 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 18; Southport campus, 5 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 20; and Leland campus, 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 19. Students who plan to take the writing test may do so at the main campus Tuesday, Jan. 4, at 1 p.m. Any GED test, including writing, may be taken at the Southport cam pus 5 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 6, or at the Leland campus at 11 a.m. Wednes day, Jan. 5. Learning lab hours are 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday. Drop-ins are welcome.
