C. Owens. both of Shallotte, were
united in marriage Sunday. Jan. 2. at
4:30 p.m. in Old Shallotte Baptist
Church. Shallotte.
The Rev. Ivren Hughes officiated
the double-ring ceremony.
The bride is manager of Kirby's
Department Store in Shallotte. She
is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Thomas C Batson of Shallotte.
The groom is self-employed. He
is the son of David Owens of Supply
and Lois Owens of Shallotte.
The bride wore a tea-length gown
of ivory chantilly lace over silk. It
featured a sweetheart neckline, leg
o'-mutton sleeves and a handker
chief hemline, all trimmed with se
quins and pearls.
Hit pearl headband was accented
with a spray of ivory silk flowers
and iridescent heads. She carried a
cascading bouquet ol miniature
plum carnations, tree fern and
heather.
Kelly Willetts. daughter of the
bride, was flower girl. She wore a
black tea-length dress bordered with
plum and mauve cabbage roses,
with a white platter collar and ac
cents of white eyelet lace. Her head
piece consisted of silk plum roses
and ribbon.
Saxon Owens was his father's
best man.
Music was provided by Tamala
Grissett-Grimes. pianist, and Albert
Hughes, vocalist.
After the ceremony a reception
was held in the church fellowship
hall.
Following a honeymoon in Flo
rida, the newlyweds will make their
home in Shallotte.
