Holiday Harvest
Perry Hall said his Christmas holiday was made "extra special"
when he ha nested this ll-point buck with a 16-inch spread and a
doe while hunting over the holidays at Jamestown Plantation on
the Waccamaw River. Hall, who lives at Shell Point, is a continu
ing education director at Brunswick Community College.

Parks and Recreation Department's
hrsi senior golf tournament of the

the Brierwood Men's Golf Asso
ciation best ball tournament last

Each group counted one best ball

Narazinski and Dick Kline shot 14
under-par 138 to tie for first with
Jim Guffee. Bill Pingo and Rick
Rickbeil. who used a blind draw for

and Gene Cordisco shot 17-under
127 to win the Brierwood Men's

Boh Christian and Wash Dayton
won the first flight in the Calabash
Veterans Golf Association event last
Friday at Fagles Nest.
Teams counted the low gross
score on each hole. Christian and
Dayton shot 78 and defeated Jerry
Russ and Leroy Rotherforth on a
match of cards. Placing third, also
with 78. was the team of Clayton
Dyson and John Marcotte.
In the second flight. Hob Maloy
and Ken Mickey shot gross 82 to
take first place on a match of cards
over Fat Varney and Jack Bowes.
Chuck Wilson and Paul Turan fin
ished third with 84. Dick Mee and
Walt Hasiuk placed fourth, also with

Ruby Rickard was the winner of
the only tournament hosted by the
Fox Squirrel Country Club Women's
Golf Association in December.
Runners-up were Cindy Kuester
and Sally Thomas. Claire Hoover
and Rickard had birdies. Making
chip-ins were Bonnie McRae.

Tornadoes Crush North Brunswick
The North Brunswick boys' bas
ketball team, off to its best start in
years with a record of 5-2. was
knockcd down a notch in its Three
Rivers Conference opener last Friday.
Providing the big blow were the
Fairmont Golden Tornadoes, a run
and-gun team that has won 52 out of
55 games over the previous two sea
sons but is rebuilding somewhat this
year.
The Tornadoes, who outscored
the Scorpions by an average of 105
62 in their two meetings last year,
proved they are still a formidable
team Friday night in Leland.
Damion Page scored 24 points
and Anthony Jones added 16 to lead
Coach Michael Baker's Tornadoes
to a 74-59 win over the Scorpions.
Fairmont (9-2). which advanced
deep into the state playoffs each of
the last two years after winning
Waccamaw Conference champi
onships. trailed the Scorps 1-0 early
but led the rest of the way.
The Tornadoes led 23-15 after
one quarter and 42-2N at halftime.

North Brunswick was scheduled
to continue Three Ri\ers Con
ference play this week with a road
game Tuesday at East Bladen. The
Scorps will entertain Tar Heel on
Friday night.
