Finishing second in the alternate shot of twosome event was the team of Walt Lee and Hob Maloy with a score of <>7.5. ' Other top finishers included Al Branham anil Pat Varnev with net 68. Bob Greenwood and Bill Seip with 70 and Marry Birnie and Frnie Williams with 71.5. Mai Schweickardt and Charlie Mahony finished sixth with 72. On a match of cards. Art McGinn and Bert Smith took seventh with 73 and Paul Turan and (ilenn Wray were eighth. Alan Klctchka and Dick Moe placed ninth with 73. On Jan. 17. the Brierwood men Benefit Tournament Raises $7,300 For Chris Stanley Golfers helped raise approximately $7,300 for a local man battling cancer at the Chris Stanley Benefit Goil Tournament last Saturday at Lixriiwocxi Golf Links ntrrtr Mo!c!?n Rcuch Letties Grove Church sponsored the tournament, which drew more than 100 golfers. There were 36 hole sponsors and more than 50 area merchants donated food and prizes. Members of the top two teams in each flight received complimentary rounds of golf at area courses and pro shop gift certificates. Stanley is undergoing chemotherapy treatment in Chapel Hill.
