for the home team in the second
half. Whiteville extended its lead to
54-23 at the end of the third quarter.
"They just came in here better
prepared and ready to play and they
stuck it to us." West Brunswick
Coach Charlie Stevens said.
Terry McC'ray and Curtis Norton
scored 10 points apiece to lead a
balanced Whiteville attack. Every
Wolfpack player scored at least two
points.
Brandon Hill scored 11 points and
Eric Johnson had 10 to pace West
Brunswick, which suffered its third
straight Waccamaw Conference loss.
Whiteville's players seemed to be
one step ahead of the Trojans all
night long. West Brunswick had trou
ble beating the Wolfpack's full-court
press. When the Trojans did get the
ball across half-court, they didn't get
many good looks at the basket.
"Tonight we were not a well
coached team. A well-coached team
docs not get blown out." Stevens
said.
"I think all the blame should be
put on me. I'm the head basketball
coach and I'm responsible for this
team. Mentally. I did not have them
ready to play tonight."
Whiteville's biggest lead of the
game, 34 points, came with 6:10 left
in the fourth quarter when Andre
McCullum snatched a perfect alley
oop pass from Jablonski Moore and
dunked for a 60-26 advantage.
For Wesi Brunswick fans, the
game's only bright spot came at

ball team raised their state 3A cham

The ceremony did not inspire the
Trojan basketball team, which in
