South Brunswick is looking to fill the vacancy left by Bill Hewett, who resigned last month following charges thai he assaulted two female students. The cases are scheduled for court next Monday, Feb. 2H. West Brunswick Principal Ed Lemon said the county received ap proximately 75 applications. Some applied for the position at both schools, while others applied for the job at West or South only. Lemon said he and Brett have narrowed the lield to seven applicants to be interviewed for the West Brunswick job. The principal said the fi nalists have "outstanding" resumes and all but one is from North Carolina. "There are a number of good applicants and big-time winners," I^emon said Tuesday. South Brunswick Principal Sue Sellers said Monday the school had a "very good response" from applicants and she hopes to start the first round of interv iews within a week. "I'd like to have a decision by the next regularly-scheduled school board meeting (on March 14)," she said. "It we haven't gone through the interviews by then, I'm not going to feel compelled to make a decision." Sellers said the timing of the decision will depend on how many peo ple are interviewed and the availability ot the people to be interviewed.
