She was a native of Columbus
County and the daughter of the late

She was the widow of John Craven
Ward.
Funeral services were held Feb.
23 in the Inman Chapel, conducted
by Elder Gardner Mishoe, with in
terment in the Ward Cemetery.

She is survived by a son. Colon
Ward of Nakina; three daughters,
Joyce Robbins of Winnabow, Dare
Long of Nakina and Delma Rae
Johnson of Millington, Tenn.; a
brother, Braxton Jenrette of Tabor
City; 14 grandchildren; 24 great
grandchildren and four great-great
grandchildren.
TISHER H. DUNCAN
Usher H. Duncan, 79, of Nakina
died F eb. 21. She was born in South
Carolina, the daughter of the late
Madison and India Proctor Hughes.
She was the widow of the late
Clarence David Duncan. She was a
member of Palmyra Baptist Church.
Funeral services were conducted
Feb. 24 at Palmyra Baptist Church
by the Rev. Gary Williams, the Rev.
Raymond Cumbee and the Rev.
Eugene Evans. Interment was in
C oiumbus Montana! Park.
She is survived by a daughter.

two sons, Lee Armstrong of Wis
consin and Matthew Armstrong of

Marlowe Stanley. He was a U.S.

Survivors include his wife. Nova
Milligan Stanley; three sons, George
G. Stanley Jr. of Houston. Texas,

years from TransWorld Airlines as
crew scheduler. After retirement, he
was involved with Super G Consta
lation Antique Aircraft Restoration.
Recently he was employed by
Windjammer Village, North Myrtle
Beach, S.C.

World Day Of Prayer Service Is Friday
Women throughout the Shallotte
area are invited to gather at Shallotte
Presbyterian Church on Friday,
March 4, at 10 a.m. in observance of
the annual World Day of Prayer.
The service, sponsored by Church
Women United, is part of a global
celebration observed by Christian
communities throughout the world.
The service has been prepared by
Christian women in Palestine and ex
plores the theme, "Go, See and Act."
A nursery will be provided and a
coffee hour will follow the church
service.

gospel concert Sunday, March 6, at
7 p.m. at Oak Grove Baptist Church.

group sings traditional Southern
