Lennon Listen Hawes. 57, of
Whiteville road. Ash. died March
at Dosher Memorial Hospital in
Southport.
Born in Columbus County Sept.
5, 1936. he was a son of the late
Vance Lx-nnon and Evie Lou Reaves
Hawes. Prior to his retirement on
Dec. 31, 1993. he was a lieutenant
with the Brunswick County Sheriff's
Department and was in charge of the
Civil Division.
Survivors include his wife, Ruhv
Ward Hawes of the home; a son,
Ricky Hawes of Ash: five daugh
ters. Cindy (iurganus of Ash. Sherri
Hawes of Shallotte, Joanne luirri
more of Ocean Isle Beach. Sandra
Long of Shallotte and Ha/el Faulk
of Nakina; a brother. John Clifton
Reaves of Nakina; eight grandchil
dren; and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted
March 12 in the Chapel of Bruns
wick Funeral Service by the Rev.
Bob Childress and the Rev. Billy
Smith. Entombment was in Col
umbus Memorial Park Mausoleum.
Whiteville. Active and honorary
casketbearers were members of the
Brunswick County Sheriff's Depart
ment.

Hospital.
Final rites were conducted March
13 at Sandy Plain Baptist Church of
Tabor City by the Rev. M.C.
Herring. Buriai was in Sandy Plain
Cemetery.
Survivors include a son. Bobby
Daniels of the home; her mother,
Mabel King of Whiteville; a step
daughter. Tammy Daniels of Ixing

Robert Glenn Wells, 88. of
Wilmington died March 8 in New
I lanover Regional Medical Center.
The funeral was March 10 in
Andrews Mortuary Market Street
Chapel, by Dr. Lamar Brooks and
the Rev Richard Everett. Burial was
in Grcenlawn Memorial Park.
He was born in Delco on June 23.
1905, the son of the lale David W.
and Mary Jane Pridgen Wells. He
was preceded in death by his wife,
Helen Peterson Wells.
Mr. Wells was a member of
Winter Park Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons.

Dorothy Carnes McNeill. 85. of
Whiteville and Ocean Isle Beach,
died Saturday. March 12, at Wood
haven Nursing Home in Eumberton.
A graveside funeral was held
March 14 in Whiteville Memorial
Cemetery, with the Rev. A. Joe
Poole officiating.
She was a graduate of Whiteville
High School and Carolina College
in Maxton.
Survivors include two daughters.
Nancy M. Mills of Eumberton and
Penny M Herzog of Myrtle Beach,
S.C.; a son, John D. McNeill of
Charlotte; five grandchildren; and
one great-grandson.

Corp. in Hanover. Pa.
Survivors include his wife,

Schaefer of Camp Hill. Pa . and the
Rev. John A. Schaefer of Hummels

Barbara Ellen Benton Daly. 46. of
Cove City, died March 10 at Craven
Regional Medical Center after a
short illness.

the Daly Cemetery in Jasper.
She was horn May 2, 1947, in
Brunswick County, the daughter of
Eva McGee Benton of Leland and
the late George Franklin Benton.

Long. She was preceded in death by
