Rupert L. Williford, 71, of
Yaupon Beach died March 26 at
Dosher Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services were held March
30 at Jernigan-Warren Funeral
Home, Fayetteville, with burial in
Lafayette Memorial Park,
Fayetteville.
CATHERINE WARI)
Catherine "Maggie" Ward, 75, of
Pine Street, North Myrtle Beach,
S.C., died March 29 at Grand Strand
General Hospital.
Burn Oct. 27, 1918, in Hicknians
Crossroads, she was a daughter of
the late Lorcntus Jcnrctte and Florrie
Mae McLamb Jenrette. She was a
waitress with Hoskins Restaurant in
North Myrtle Beach since 1955. She
attended Lakeside Baptist Church
and was the widow of tlollis Ward.
She is survived by a son, James
"Siggy" ward of North Myrtle
Beach, S.C.; a daughter. Peggy
Kellough of Columbus, Ohio; a
brother, Jerome Jenrette of Hick
mans Crossroads; a sister, Edith
Hickman of Hickmans Crossroads;
and four grandchildren.
Funeral services were held March
31 at Lakeside Baptist church with
the Rev. James Mezick officiating.
Burial was in Siphew Cemetery,
Longwood.

BERTHA McCALL TINSLEY
Bertha McCall Tinsley, 103, of
Brevard, died March 29.
The eldest of nine children and a
Transylvania County native, she was
a daughter of the late Wesley C. and
Martha Bracken McCall. She was
preceded in death by her husband.
Joseph H. Tinsley, who died in
1984, and a daughter, Irene Tinsley
Knight.
Survivors include a daughter,
Mary Alice Allen of Brevard; four
grandchildren including Martha Jo
ilall of Shallotte Point, and five
great-grandchildren, including R.
Forest Hall IV of Ocean Isle Beach.
The funeral was held April 1 at
First Baptist Church of Brevard.
WALTER S. BLIZARD
Walter Stanley Wizard. XO, a resi
dent of Autumn Care of Shallotte,
died March 29.
Born Dec. 6. 1913, in Philadelph
ia, Pa., he was a son of the late John
Walter Frederick and Elizabeth
Ellwanger Blizard. Before retiring,
he was the vice president of Tension
Envelope Co.
Survivors include two daughters,
Carol Saylor of Roslyn, Pa., and
Elizabeth Clayton of Dresher, Pa.;
13 grandchildren and 15 great
grandchildren.
A private funeral was held.

Robert Gilbert Mujrray of Sea
Pines community, Southport, died
March 30 at Dosher Memorial
Hospital. The funeral was held in
Greensboro.

J.W. Baxley of Leland died
March 30 in I lillhaven Convalescent
Center.
He was born in Mation County,
S.C., on Dec. 29, 1924, the son of
the late Winfred J. and Ethel
Richardson Baxley.
He was a deacon of Leland Bap
tist Church, a member of Hiran
Lxidge 110 A I- & AM, Flat Rock,
Michigan. He was retired from Du
pont Corp. and was a veteran of
World War 11, having served in the
U.S. Army.
Surviving are his wife, Bernice
White Baxley of the home; two
daughters, Carroll Baxley of the
home and Margie B. Saburn and
husband Gary of Ixland; a son, John
Baxley and wife Betty Newkirk
Baxley of Wilmington; four grand
children and a sister, Linda Dennis
of Gresham, S.C.
Funeral services were held April
2 in Leland Baptist Church by Dr.
Bill licnnctt and the Rev. Billy
Buchanan. Burial was in the Leland
Baptist Church Cemetery.

of Greensboro; a son, David B.
Harvey of Greensboro; her sister,
Mrs. Ellis (Jane) Vandergriff of Col
umbia, S.C.; a brother, John Ashby

Shirley Ann Skipper McKenzic of

Davis Health Care.
She was born in Wilmington on
Oct. 4, 1944, the daughter of James
Skipper and the late Willie Mae
Ellis Skipper. She was a member of
Farmers Chapel Baptist Church.
Survivors, in addition to her fa
ther, are her husband. Jack William
McKenzie of the home; three chil
dren, Paul Gregory McKenzie,
Tammy Le-Ann Gore, Tracy

Luther James Rogers, 74, died
April 3 in the Veterans Hospital in
Fayetteville. He was a native of
Horry County, S.C., and the son of
the late Luther Pink and Sarah
Elizabeth Rabon Rogers.
Funeral services were scheduled
for Wednesday, April 6, at 3 p.m. in
the Inman Chapel, conducted by
Elder George Paul, with interment in
Forest Lawn Cemetery, Tabor City.
He is survived by his wife, Emma
Neil Rogers of Tabor City; three
daughters, Kay Nobles of Lexing
ton, Betty Paul of Loris, S.C. and
Jcnnieficr Lane of Thomasville;

illness.
Bom in Columbus County, she
was a daughter of the late Major and
Lula Cox Gore. She was a home
maker and a member of Olyphic
Baptist Church. She was the widow
of John Pierce.
Survivors include a son. Wade
Pierce of Whiteville; a daughter.
Barbara Solomon of Atlanta; a bro
ther, Billy Gore of Tabor City; three
sisters, Irene Smith and Alma Gore,
both of labor City, and Carolyn
Babson of Ash; two grandchildren
and a great-grandchild.

Olyphic Baptist Church with the
Rev. J.M. Gore officiating. Burial
was in the church cemetery.

Lillian Eden Stutts, 76, of Fay
ctteville, died April 2 in Cape Fear
Valley Medical Center.
She was retired from the Fort
Bragg Post Exchange and was a life
member of McPherson Presbyterian
Church.
The funeral was held April 4 in
MacPherson Presbyterian Church by
the Rev. Ixighton McKeithan, di
rected by Rogers and Breece Fu
neral Home. Burial was in the
church cemetery.
Mrs. Stutts is survived by two
sons, Harold L. Stutts and Neil A.
Stutts. both of Fayetteville; a daugh
ter. Ruth S. Dees of Lcland; two sis
ters, Marie V. Edens and Margaret

a teacher with the Lindsay Unified
School District.
