Three Win State Awards In Women's Club Festival Three students placcd in state competition at the N.C. Federation of Women's Clubs State Student Art Festival held March 26 in Winston Salem. West Brunswick High School ju nior Rachel Swain won first place for nonfiction literature, Grades 11 12. for an article entitled, "A Man's Gotta Do What a Man's Gotta Do." She received a blue ribbon and a check for $50. Heather Hilton, WBHS sopho more, won first place in the state for sewing and modeling a three-piece suit. She received a blue ribbon and check for $100. Lolita Bryant, Shallotte Middle School eighth-grader, won second place for fiction. Grades 7-8, for her article "Blood is Thicker Than Water." Agency Receives Funding For New Halfway House Southeastern Center for Mental Health. Developmental Disabilities and Substance Abuse Services has been awarded $26<),(KX) in funding for a proposal to provide supervised living services to substance-abusing women with dependent children. The center provides services to residents of Brunswick. New Hanover and Pender counties. The funds are from the N.C. Department of Human Resources, Division of Mental Health, Developmental Disabilities and Substance Abuse Services.
