TOWN OF OCEAN ISLE BEACH BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT HEARING May 10,1994 There will be a Board of Adjustment Meeting held on Tuesday, May 10, 1994 at 8:30 A.M. at the Town Hall to hear the following: An appeal to the Board of Adjustment by Milton E. Williams seeking a variance from the Zoning Ordinance Requirement set forth in Article 9, Paragraph 12, that prohibits extension over the area between the edge of the road and the road right of way. And Article 8, Section I, which prohibits extension across property lines where such property line borders a public right of way. A copy of the Variance Request and Zoning Ordinance is on file with the Building Inspector for review by all interested persons. The appeal process is an open hearing but public comment is not allowed. Debbie Fox, Chairman Local SludenlsTo Compete In Community College Contest More than 125 students from Brunswick County's three high schools will compete in the Tenth Annual Business Data Processing Contest at Brunswick Community College Thursday (April 28). The competition gives high school business students an opportunity to demonstrate their proficiency in computerized accounting, keyboard ing. financial management, software applications and office simulation. Presentation of awards for first-, second- and third-place winners in each of ihe five business categories, as well as an overall school winner, is scheduled for 1 p.m. in BCC's Odell Williamson Auditorium. Most of the morning activities will be held in the BCC classroom building. Joyce Hewett, BCC director of business programs, coordinates the event in cooperation with the Business and Computer Science Departments of the local high schools. BCC business program instructors assist in the administration of various skills tests. Rural Valuation Course Planned Daily At Southeastern May 3, 4 Real estate appraisers can earn credit toward continuing certification and state licensing by attending the upcoming seminar "Rural Valuation" at Southeastern Community College. Arranged by the college's Small Business Center, the coursc will be held Tuesday and Wednesday, May 3 and 4, from 5-10:15 p.m. daily in room M-116 on the college campus in Whiteville. The course has been approved for ten continuing educa tion credits by the N.C. Real Estate Appraisal Board. The $35 fee for the course may be paid at the first class meeting. Whiteville real estate appraiser David Barker will present the two day seminar covering the topics of land value analysis, direct compari son techniques and building residual and improvement values. Barker has managed rural and commercial properties for United Carolina Bank for 20 years and has been an appraiser for ten years. He has been director of Natural Re sources and Real Estate/Trust Group for UCB for the past five years. He has also taught appraisal courses at the national level for the American Society of Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers.
