Fayetteville Retiree Is Victim Of
Seashore Road Break-In, Larceny
About worth of property
stolen during a break-in and larceny
on Seashore Road near Holden
Beach Thursday night, according to
a crime report on file at the
Brunswick County Sheriff's Depart
ment Monday.
The 69-year-old Fayetteville re
tiree who owns the double-wide mo
bile home told Deputy Jerry Gray
that his nephew had visited the trail
er Thursday afternoon and found
everything in order. The break-in
was discovered Friday evening at
about 7 o'clock.
Missing from the trailer were two
color television sets, a microwave
oven and an air mattress.
It appears the thief or thieves en
tered the trailer by kicking in the
front door. The suspects caused
about $ 1.3(H) damage to the doors,
dishes, walls, floors and mirrors, the
report said.
Deputy CJray said he found a
Budweiser beer bottle and a beer can
that were apparently brought in by
CRIME REPORT
the perpetrators. These were re
trieved for fingerprint analysis.
An investigation into the break-in
continues. In other crime reports:
? Someone pried open the rear
door of a mobile home on Canna
Place in Shell Point Recreational
Village and made off with a refriger
ator. a vacuum cleaner, a color tele
vision and assorted bed linens re
cently. The owner told Deputy
Rebekah McDonald that he arrived
home to find two set of steps to his
trailer had been moved out into the
yard. He also found the rear door
open. "Evidently the suspccts had
moved the steps to the rear but were
unable to move the refrigerator out,
so they moved front steps and re
moved the items," the report said.
? A 30-horsepower Evinrude out
board motor was stolen off a boat
parked on Sunset Drive in Sunset
Harbor recently. The Inman, S.C.,
man who owns the home told
McDonald that a neighbor called
him on April 16 and told him his
motor was gone. It appears that the
thieves unbolted the motor with a
wrench that they brought to the
scene. It was retrieved for evidence.
? Two 14-year-olds are suspected
of breaking into the Leland Middle
School Friday night and stealing a
calculator, a desk clock a gold chain
and a "spell checker," Deputy Matt
Jesson reported. A woman saw the
two males climbing out a window at
the school. She called 911 and later
gave Jesson a description of the sus
pects.
? A man who lives on Boones
Neck Road, Supply, told Detective
Lt. Donnell Marlowe that his wife
forged his name on an application
for a credit card, then used it to
charge more than $2,9(H) worth of
goods and services. One of the bills
charged to the account was a $2,(KX)
payment to a Wilmington lawyer.
