Capture County Titles
BY DOUG R UTTER
Anyone who thinks local high
school athletes don't care about
county championships should have
been at Boiling Spring Lakes last
Tuesday.
West Brunswick's boys and North
Brunswick's girls were living it up
after capturing county track and field
championships at South Brunswick.
North's girls, who had never be
fore won a county track title, cele
brated their victory with the hip
"Whomp There It Is" chant.
West Brunswick's boys, who had
not won a track championship since
1986. countered with they're own
"Ham" cheer, which nobody quite
understood but seemed to enjoy
nonetheless.
Both teams hoisted their trophies
high overhead as they made victory
laps around the oval. The only thing
missing from the celebration was a
few cases of alcohoi-free champagne.
Even without the bubbly. West
Brunswick's Dexter Bass did not go
