Sertoma International Club Forming Here
A local Sertoma International
club is forming to serve the South
Brunswick Islands area.
Organizational meetings arc being
held each Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. in
the conference room of the Ocean
Isle Beach Motel at Ocean Isle
Beach, said Jim Wamble. The meet
ings are open to all interested per
sons.
Womble, a past president of the
Winston-Salem Sertoma Club, and
Charles G. Smith, past International
president, are spearheading the local
uuu-auii cuOit.
Sertoma International is dedicated
to the purpose of service to mankind
by communication of thoughts,
ideas and concepts to accelerate hu
man progress in health, education,
freedom and democracy. Mem
bership is open to men and women
with an interest in service to others.
While the primary international fo
cus is communication ? speech and
hearing ? dubs sponsor additional
programs that reflect the needs and
priorities of their communities.
Once the local dub is organized,
members will set the regular meet
ing date, time and place, said
Womble, and thfre if a possibility
the dub will meet mornings instead
of evenings.

ficers at its recent annual luncheon

Elected were Peggy Smyly, presi
dent; Adele Stephens, vice pies
dent; Edie Hoff, secretary; and
Nancy Nappy, treasurer.
The year's activities were re
viewed by outgoing president
Therese Regan, who also outlined
the projects planned for the remain
der of 1994.
Springtime planting of the town's
40 flower barrels tok place May 17,
and plans are being made for a July
3 concert on the beach under the di
rector of Ginny Barber.
The commit!?? currently is pre
paring a fact sheet of information for
rental homes. The sheet will be pro
vided to homeowners through the
Town of Sunset Beach newsieaer.

Vocational -Technical Competition,
where he piaced second in the weld
ing contest.
