Local Pier Anglers Putting In Spots BY DOUG RUTTER Local pier anglers continued catching a mixed hag of fish last week, but the good spring spot fish inu wac <*n?atino nru>ri? p*ritcmi?n! ---o o ? than anything. "It's going great." Ed Kayler of Sunset Beach Fishing Pier said Monday. "The spots really hit big Saturday and Sunday. They've been catching bunches of them." Kayler said fishermen also caught Spanish mackerel, bluefish, whiting, drum and flounder last week. At Ocean Isle Beach Fishing Pier, manager Milton Williams said fish ermen have been pulling in spots, flounder, speckled trout, blues, Spanish, whiting and sheepshead. "Fishing's been pretty good. The spots have been biting real good," Williams said Monday. "It's been real good for the last eight to 10 days. We're hoping it continues. The weather's getting better. We're getting some sun shine." Fishermen also found a good sup ply of spots last week at Holden Beach Fishing Pier, according to manager Gil Bass. "The spots have picked up this week. They're doing right weil. They're the smaii spnng spots," he reported Monday. "I don't know what it is, but the cobia have been excellent," Shipley said. "I got a feeling all this warm weather is what's doing it." Emanual Outreach posted a 14-6 win over Zion Baptist on Monday to improve its league-best record to 13 1 . Last week. Emanual beat Eastside Fellowship 17-2 and Old Shallotte 23-2.
