Mrs. Shirk was bom Feb. 25,
1920, in Olund. Sweden, a daughter
of the late Hjalmer "Jolly" Fritz and
Gertrude Peterson Carlson and
moved here in 1983 from Blooming
dale, III. She had been an active vol
unteer with the American Red Cross
in minrKiyuia, rviinn., ana for more
than 10 years served as official
Sunshine Girl for the Boiling Spring
Lakes community. She also had
served as president of the Women's
Golf Association of Fox Squirrel
Country Club.
Mrs. Shirk was preceded in death
by a son. Robert Charles Shirk, and
is survived her her husband. Bill C.
Shirk of the home; two sons, Steven
Shirk of Hewitt, NJ., and Michael
Shirk of California; two brothers,
Leslie Carlson of Highland, Calif.,
and Burdette Carlson of Plainfield,
Wisconsin; a sister. Betty Jane
O'DeU of Roscoc, 111.; and four
grandchildren.

ceived a travel fellowship to the
Soviet Union. Afterward she entered
graduate studies at the University of
North Carolina at Chapel Hill and
was in the Honorary Society for
Siavic Languages.

Lehman Keating and the late Ed
ward Keating. He formerly lived in
Carteret until moving to Little River
in 1987. He was owner/operator of
Best Way Pools of North Myrtle
Beach.
He wass a former member of the
Carteret First Aid Squad, and a
member of the Knights of Colum
bus, Carey Council 1280 in Carteret,
the S.C. Realtors Association and
the men's league of the Eagle Nest
Golf Course in Little River. He was
a parishioner of Our Lady Star of
the Sea Roman Catholic Church in
North Myrtle Beach.
Survivors include his wife, Mary
Jane Moran Keating; four daughters,
Cynthia Matusz of the Iselin section
of Woodbridge, Donna Smith of
Carteret, Patricia Cuza of Edison
and Michele Krting of San Diego;
his mother of Little River; two sis
ters, Eleanor Zawistowski of Little
River and Catherine Moran of Dal
las; and three grandchildren.

from 2-4 p.m. and 7-8:30 p.m.
