The Rev. Joey Yow officiated. The bride is the daughter of Bobby and Sandra Stroud of Albert son. She is a graduate of South Lenoir High School and earned her bachelor's degree from Barton Col lege. She is a senior customer ser vice representative with Associates Financial Service in Garner. Her grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Willard Grady Sr. of Deep Run. The bridegroom is the son of Da vid and Gtenda Stanaland of Sunset Beach and the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Stanaland of Ash and Mr. and Mrs. G.C. Kelly of Lillington. He earned his bachelor's degree from East Carolina University and is a personal loan officer for Four Oaks Bank and Trust. Wedding music was provided by organist Sherry Baysa and vocalists Kerry Jo Mozingo and Debbie Elam. Wedding director was Mary Lynn Massengill and register atten dant was Melissa R. Grady. The bride, given in marriage by ber parents and escorted by her fa ther, wore a formal gown of satin with fitted bodice beaded in pearls and sequins with pearl droplets. The V, off-the-shoulder neckline was outlined in pearls. A candy box bow with pearl clusters accented with waistline. The full floor-length skirt was adorned with garlands of lace and beaded lace motifs. The semi cathedral train was etched in beaded alcncon lace. She chose a brim hat of satin and embroidered Chantilly lace. A satin bow with pearl clusters and sequins adorned the brim. Double layers of rolled edge illusion with a pouff in the back fell to the fingertips. She canicd a lacc -covered Bible with a bouquel of white roses, ba bies breath and white streamers. Maid of honor was Tammy Outlaw. Bridesmaids were Kelly Stanaland. sister of the groom, Jennifer Bennett and Candi Murphy. The groom's father served as best man. Ushers were Mark Stroud, brother of the bride, Tony Geouge, Michael Price and David Daughton. The bride's parents hosted a re ception after the ceremony at Four Oaks Methodist Church Fellowship Hall. Judy Grady and Sarah Hipp, aunts of the bride and groom, re spectively, served cake and punch, along with Beverly Grady. Willard Grady Jr., Johnny and Kav Hatch said good-byes. Tutor Training Workshop Set The Brunswick County Literacy Council will conduct a tutor training workshop Friday, July 22, from 6 9:30 p.m. and continuing on Saturday, July 23, 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. The 10-hour workshop will famil iarize participants with the Laubach Way to Reading, a phonics-based method of teaching reading. The workshop is free, but participants should bring a bag lunch for the Saturday session. The workshop will be held at the Literacy Council office in Supply. Trainer will be Joan Altman. Call 754-7323 or 1 -800-A9A-7323 to pre- register Battleship July 4 Observance To Include Sound, Light Show Fireworks will be launched from the USS North Carolina Battleship Memorial on Monday, July 4 at 9 p.m. Although the fireworks will be visible over the Cape Fear River be tween Wilmington's Riverfront Park and the battleship, patrons of the Independence Day presentation of the battleship's Sound and Light Spectacular, "The Immortal Show boat," will have grandstand seats. Ticket-holders for the outdoor dra ma will see the Fireworks display from the same stands built to accom modate sound and light show audi ences. "The Immortal Showboat" will begin about 20 minutes after the fireworks. The presentation tells the battleship's story through voice, mu sic. sound effects and lights. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Ma Walker Lancaster of Supply. She earned the bachelor of arts degree in intermediate education at UNC wiimmgton and is a fourth-grade teacher at Supply Elementary School. The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Billy Cheers of Shallotte. He is the grandson of Mrs. Madie Cheers, also of Shallotte. He earned the bachelor of science degree in business at UNC- Wilmington and is a staff accountant for W. Davis Milligan, CPA, of Shallotte. The bride was escorted by her fa ther and given in marriage by her parents. She wore a white raw silk Shantung gown accented with reem broidered French alencon lace, clus tered pearls and beads. The gown featured a scalloped neckline, fitted bodice and leg-o-mutton sleeves ac cented with lace insets. The full skirt was complemented by a back bow clustered with pearls and beads. The skirt and chapel train were edged with a deep band of heavily beaded alencon lace. Her veil was a halo of French silk illusion with sprays of pearls and beads She carried a bouquet of white roses, staigazei Kites and Italian niskis eucalyptus. Maid of honor was Tracey Sim mons of Elizabethtown. Other atten dants were Beverly Butler, sister of the groom, and Kim Cheers, sister in-law of the groom, both of Shal lotte; Jennifer Cooke of Charlotte; Jennifer VanSteen of Supply; and Gennie Madison of Ocean Isle Beach. A bridal pauty brunch was hosted by Kim Galloway and Kelly Bare foot at the Barefoot residence at Lockwood Folly Golf Links.
