probotion Revoked, Man Imorisoned After Knife Assault A 23-year old Boiling Spring Lakes man was sentenced to two years in prison and had a previous two-year suspended sentence acti vated last week after being found guilty of slashing a woman with a kitchen knife. Harky Ray Beacraft Jr. of Elm Road was convicted of assault with a deadly weapon against a woman with the same last name who lives in the Fiddler's Creek subdivision in South port. He had been charged with "inflicting serious injury upbn (the victim) by cutting her on the face." Court records indicate the at tack occurred July 24. Beacraft was on probation under a suspended sentence for two previous convictions of assault on a female and one charge of injury to real property. He was accused of break ing a bedroom window and knock ing a hole in a bedroom door, ac cording to the arrest warrant. One of the special conditions of Beacraft 's probation ordered him not to "assault, threaten or harass the prosecuting witness." Judge David Wall and Judge Jerry Jolly presided during four days of criminal district court in Bolivia last week. Assistant district attorney Marion Warren prosecuted, while Marie Jordan served as courtroom clerk. Other defendants who appeared in court last week, with their charges and judgments include: David D. Ballengee, assault on a female, Brunswick County Jail six months, suspended sentence five years, $50 and costs, not go back about plaintiff's house or business, not assault, harass or threaten plain tiff for five years. Paul E. John E. Crisp, misdemeanor pro bation violation out of county, pro bation terminated. Jerry Davis, assault on a female, voluntarily dismissed, no plaintiff; domestic criminal trespassing, two counts of injury to personal proper ty, assault to inflict serious injury, domestic criminal trespassing, all voluntarily dismissed April H. Hewett, four counts of simple worthless checks, $19.84, $48.61, $21.20, $19.91 all to Wil son's #12, consolidated judgment, Brunswick County Jail 30 days, su spended sentence two years, costs, restitution, not issue any worthless checks for two years. James Edward Melvin, assault on a female, Brunswick County Jail six months, suspended sentence five years, $100 and costs, not assault, harass, threaten or go back about plaintiff without her permission, $125 attorney fees.
