Motorist Charged With DWI Folio wing Wreck On 904 A Scotland County man was charged with driving while impaired following a two-vehicle accident last Friday on N.C. 904 near Gris settown. The accident happened at 5:15 p.m. approximately 2.1 miles north of Sunset nrmrHintr fo a re port filed by Trooper R.L. Murray of the N.C. Highway Patrol. A 1991 Ford truck driven by Frederick Dickerson. 21, of Supply, and a 1993 CMC truck operated by Julian Butler III, 27, of Laurinburg, were traveling north on N.C. 904. Murray's report indicated that the GMC truck attempted to pass the Ford in the left lane. To avoid on coming traffic, the GMC swerved back into the right lane and struck the left front portion of the Ford. Both trucks ran off the right side of the road and overturned. Murray reported that both drivers com plained of injuries, but neither was taken to the hospital for treatment. Murray charged Butler with dri ving while impaired. Damage to the GMC truck was estimated at $5,(XX), and the Ford sustained approximately $4,500 in damages. Two Are Injured Two Brunswick County residents suffered minor injuries in a two-ve hicle accident last Thursday at the intersection of N.C. 904 and Russ town Road. The wreck occurred at 4:55 p.m. approximately 6.8 miles west of Shallotte. Michael Brinsfield. 34, of Shall otte, was driving a 1985 Ford south on N.C. 904. and Flora Frink, 31, of LongwiKxi was traveling north on N.C lHW in a 1987 Nissan. A report filed by Trooper T.W. Caulder says the Ford slowed down to turn left onto Russtown Road, and stopped after Brinsfield saw the on coming Nissan. The l ord stopped in the intersec tion left of the center line, and the Nissan slid into the front of the Ford Brinsfield was charged with a yield violation. Both drivers complained of minor injuries and were taken to The Brunswick Hospital in Supply. Caulder estimated damage to the Nissan at $2,000, while the Ford sustained about $1,500 in damage. Dangerous Intersection The intersection of U.S. 17 and N.C. 904 was the site of yet another traffic accident last week. State transportation officials plan to put a traffic light at the cross roads. where several accidents have occurred since the recent opening of the four-lane U.S. 17. Injured were Cobb, Bowser and a passenger in the Cadillac, 48-year old Jessica Bowser of Shallotte. Murray charged Cobb with a yield violation. BS=BBS=B^= Shallotte Wreck Also last Wednesday, the High way Patrol investigated a 12:05 p.m. wreck at the intersection of U.S. 17 Bypass and U.S. 17 Business south of Shallotte. Trooper B.C. Jones reported that a 1987 Nissan truck driven by Taryn Haley, 35, of Whiteville, was travel ing north on U.S. 17 Bypass. Edward Pratt, 30, of Calabash, was driving a 1991 Acura and was attempting to cross the northbound lanes of the bypass from U.S. 17 Business when the vehicles collided. Pratt was charged with failure to yield. Haley complained of minor in juries and was taken to The Bruns. Hospital. Pratt was not injured.
