Brunswick Countians will be among the exhibitors and competitors at the New Hanover County Fair,
which runs Oct. 13-22. The fairgrounds are on Carolina Beach Road. Tickets are $8 and $6 for chil
dren 12 and younger on Saturdays and Sundays until 6 p.m. Fair spokesman Margee Herring said
Brunswick County varsity and junior varsity cheerleaders will be in competition with lose from Pender
and New Hanover counties on Monday, Oct. 17, at 6:30 p.m. Also, Brunswick County 4-H members

Shelter Needs Children's Items
Hope Harbor Home is seeking donations of several
items needed by children housed at the domestic vio
lence shelter or participating in its programs, said Anne
Presley, shciter manager.
Among the needed items are used tricycles, Fisher
Price toys for children age 10 and younger, toys and
games for boys and girls ages 10-12, children's books
and puzzles, and kickballs, basketballs and footballs.
"Because of the numerous children that come to the
shelter, things get broken and net u to be rcpiaccd frc
qucntly," Presley said. "We thank the public for their
generosity and kindness."
