Gather 'Round This Table A group of local Civil War enthu siasts is forming a Civil War Round Table for monthly meetings at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington Program meetings, which will in clude a speaker and discussion, will bring in historians to reflect upon as pects of Civil War history. "Civil War Round Tables, which currently number more than 200 across the United States, arc nonpar tisan gatherings of mostly amateur historians who seek and objective and unbiased study of the Civil War," said a spokesman for the new Cape Fear Civil War Round Table. Monthly meetings arc often supple mented by other activities such as battlefield tours and preservation projects The inaugural meeting of the Cape Fear Civil War Round Table will take place on Thursday, Oct 13, at 7:30 p m. in King Hall, Room 101, at UNC-W. Thunder was reported at the National Weather Service office a total of 3 days. The area had 1 1 clear days, 8 partly cloudy days and 1 1 cloudy days in September Sunshine reached 67 perccnt of total possible for the month. Mean wind speed for the month was 7.5 mil.* an hour. The peak wind gust neasured in September was 35 miles an hour out of the north on the 18th aign of 1865. Fonviellc's program, "Stories of the Civil War: People, Place and Events in the Lower Cape Fear, 1861-1865," will focus on little known incidents in the Wilmington area during the war, as well as on Civil War personalities of the Lower Cape Fear. The public is invited. Round Table meetings will be held "generally, though not always," at 7:30 p.m. on the second Thursiday of each month at the university. Nash was voting delegate and was third-place winner in the Cultural Arts Contest, with her entry, "Baby Organizer," in the miscellaneous category. Theme of the meeting was "Cele brating Family," in keeping with the worldwide observance of "Interna tional Year of the Family." Keynote speaker for the banquet was Dr. John Edwards, a clinical psychologist who counsels children and family and is active in church and community life.
