Pruitt Makes Eagle Scout i miu Fruitt, 1 7, of Supply was be stowed the rank of Eagic Scout and received his God and Country award in an Oct. 1 ceremony at Brunswick Islands Baptist Church. He is the son of Dallas and Melodee Pruitt of Supply, formerly of Winston-Salem. His Scoutmaster is Butch Harrison. He was a Cub Scout for three years and a Scout for eight years and belongs to the Order of the Arrow Wahissa 118. He is a senior patrol leader and belongs to the National Honor Society. Pruitt is a member of Coastline Volunteer Rescue Squad and will be certiried as an emergency medical technician on Oct. 24. Smokey The Bear Plans Two Local Appearances Smokey The Bear will be meet ing children and handing out fire prevention materials during two lo cal appearances planned for the next two weekends. Smokey will visit the Wal-Mart in Shallotte this Saturday, Oct. 22, from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. He will have balloons and handouts for the kids. The Brunswick County office of the N.C. Boxes are at True Value Hard ware Store in Calabash. Ace Hard ware on Holden Beach Road, in front of Wal-Mart in Shallotte and in the cafeteria of the Brunswick County Government Complex in Bolivia. They were constructed by Lion Pete Kopasz. "Donations of glasses and hearing aids to the Lions would be greatly appreciated," said Marv Peters, club spokesman. "Used eyeglasses arc forwarded to the N.C. Lions Foundation for further processing, principally to be sent to other countries for needy in A LWi MM k.'Wi kWJ Wi MB dividuals." He said used hearing aids are re furbished and distributed to people who cannot afford to purchase them.
