Supply Club And Clan Honored By Extension Supply Extension Homemakers Hub and one of its members, Clara Schuster, earned top honors last Friday at the Brunswick County Ex tension Momemakcrs Association s 1994 annual achievement program. The program, held at the Lock wood Folly Community Building in Supply, also featured installation of 1W4-95 officers by District Advisor Eleanor Hoff and exhibits and infor mation for prospective members. Supply Club President Pat Nash accepted the Club of the Year Award sponsored by Brunswick Electric Membership Corp During the past year the club has helped its local fire department, rescue squad, nursing homes. Hospice. Boys and Girls Home, the Volunteer & Information Center and The Brunswick Hospital with money, gifts and their time, as well as contributing to council-spon sored events such as Quilt Show 94, the cultural arts show and the international program on Africa. A literacy project the club be gan ? providing books for newborns and their mother* at The Brunswick I lotpiul ? has gfQWR I * county Extension Home makers council project carried out in coop eration with the Brunswick County literacy Council. Fellow club member Maxine Hampton accepted the Member of the Year Award in Schuster s place The award is presented annually by Atlantic Telephone Membership Corp. Schuster was recognized for her involvement in extension homcmak crs at the club level and beyond, in both educational and service activi ties. Because of her extensive time commitment to extension work she was nominated from Brunswick County for the district Volunteers in Extension Education Programs award this past year. Other nominees were I a Verne Thomas, Beachcombers Hub, and Elizabeth Trenton, Boiling Spring Ukcs. Five members were recognized for 10 or more years of perfect at tendance: Pat Nash and Helyn Phil lips, 10; The I ma Dunn and Lucile Kirby, 14; and Edith Pigott, 15. Officers for 1994-95 are Pat Collins, president; Lena Mintz, first vice president; Jean Meams, second Civietown VFD Meal Saturday Civietown Volunteer Fire Depart ment will sell dinners Saturday, Oct. 22, starting at 1 1 a.m. at the fire sta tion off Holdcn Beach Road at the Civietown intersection. With each $4.50 plate, diners will have a choice of homemade pork barbecue or fried fish, with cole slaw, yams and hushpuppies and tea or coffee. Meals may be eaten in or taken out. Proceeds will go to support the Fire department.
