It's Red Ribbon Week At West West Brunswick High School's Students Against Drunk Driving (SADD) celebrate National Red Ribbon Week Oct. 23-30 with the motto, "Healthy means drug-free." SADD kicked off Red Ribbon Week on Oct. 21 at the West Brunswick High School homecom ing game by giving dance team members, cheerleaders and their ad visors red carnations and ribbons to wear. Football players were given red and white cupcakes, and many posters and bulletin boards were posted around the school campus. On Sunday, Oct., 23, red ribbons were passed out to area churches: The week's activities were sched uled as follows: ? Oct. 24: Teachers were given red apples, and red bows were post ed around the school. Also, employ ees of grocery stores, restaurants, banks and Companion Animal Hospital received red ribbons to wear throughout the week. ? Oct. 25: Students were encour aged to sign a drug-free pledge, and red ribbon stickers were given to students during English classes. The club also started the "Take a step to be drug-free" campaign. ? Oct. 26: Teachers were to re ceive red pens, and all students and faculty members were to be encour aged to wear red clothing to symbol ize their abstinence from drugs. ? Oct. 27: Flyers will be placed on student and faculty vehicles. ? Oct. 28: Students will be out of school for a teacher workday; SADD urges the community to be drug-free. Red ribbons are being sold to stu dents during lunch for 25 cents. "Staying drug-free gives students a chance to get and hold a good job, think clearly and stay healthy," said SADD club reporter Chad Smith. Older Workers Eligible For Help If you are 55 or older?
