Brief Project Description: Brunswick County has received a $500,000 Small Cities Community Development Block Grant to be used with $3,000 in weatherization funds to per form the following activities: (1) rehabilitate 6 houses; (2) acquisition to permit the demolition and clear ance of 6 dilapidated occupied houses: (3) demolition and clearance of 6 dilap idated occupied housos; (4) relocate 6 families living in dilapidated houses: and (5) planning/administration. Job* Contract* and Supplies Likely To Be Utilized In Carrying Out th* Project Jobs: Employment opportunities will be created primarily through contractors and subcontractors. Projected job opportunities include : (1) general construction jobs including carpenters, plumbers, electricians, and heating/cooling installers: (2) septic tank installers (3) appraisers and review appraisers; (4) general and or grading contractor and (5) administrators. Contracts: Brunswick County plans to enter into contracts for: (1) 6 individual housing rehabilitation contracts with gen eral contractors; (2) a contract to perform septic tank repair/installation; (3) a con tract to perform approximately 6 appraisals and a contract to perform approxi mately 6 review appraisals; (4) a contract to demolish and clear approximately 6 dilapidated houses; and (5) a contract for total CDBG project administration in cluding housing rehabilitation. It is further anticipated that up to 6 individual con tracts will result due to relocation activities. These contracts are anticipated to re sult in the purchase, move, set-up, etc. of replacement housing (mobile homes, prefabricated houses, frame houses, etc.). These contracts will be coordinated through Brunswick County but will be between the contractor and each relocated family. Relocation assistance also includes the provision for temporary relocation assistance. This activity will also be coordinated through Brunswick County and will result in temporary housing (rental) contracts between the renter and tem porarily relocated family.
