CLUB BRIEFS Ladies Auxiliary Honored Veterans of Foreign Wars .Post 7288 Ladies Auxiliary has been awarded a plaque from the Cove Care Home in Shallotte for 2,000 hours of service. The auxiliarists donated 29 American flags, one for each class room, to Union Primary School on Friday in remembrance of Veterans Day. The project was chaired by Mae Maloney, senior vice president. A Veterans Day ceremony was held at the Calabash post with Scout leader Joel Richardson of Troop 808 displaying 15 historical flags on the post lawn ranging from the American Revolution to the Star Spangled Banner of 1814. Eagle Scout Matt Richardson led the group in the Pledge of Allegiance. Walter Benes donated $100 to the Scout troop on behalf of the Veterans Golf Association. Auxiliarists arc making ditty bags for patients of the V.A. Hospital in Fayetteville. Also, a television and videocassette recorder are being do nated for the Women Veterans' Clinic. Games are being donated to the substance abuse clinic. The items will be delivered by post members and auxiliarists during their December visit to the hospital. The auxiliarists* next meeting will take place Monday, Nov. 21, at 7 p.m. Officers will meet at 6. Two Win Prizes VFW Post 8866 Ladies Auxiliary has announced winners of its recent drawing for prizes. Carolyn Moskowitz of Supply won the videocassette recorder, and Fetzer Hartsell of Oakboro won the Bryan Varnum print. The next VFW Auxiliary meeting will be at noon Dec. 13 at Joe's Barbecue. Singles' Weekend Brunswick Islands Baptist Church is extending its singles ministry with a singles' weekend Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 19-20. Saturday activities will begin with an evening meal provided by the church. "This opportunity to meet other singles in Christian fellowship is for those never married, divorced, di vorced with children, widowed, and widowed with children," said church spokesman Douglas Hall. Discussion topics will include "Helping Children Heal," "Finance Workshop," "Legal Aspects of Single Living," "Rebuilding My Life," and "Living Single." Students Make School's Sign For Parking Lot Students in the vocational-techni cal curriculum at West Brunswick High School recently built a new sign for the student parking lot. The entrance side identifies the student/visitor parking area, while the exit side reminds motorists to "buckle up". This sign was a joint effort of the carpcntry class taught by Gary Poulos and Students Against Drunk Driving (SADD). Both groups are encouraging school safety and im proving the appearance of the cam pus. 10th Waterway Christmas Regatta Planned For Nov. 26 The MMh annual Intracoastal Christmas Regatta is scheduled fur Saturday, Nov. 26, by the Little River Chamber of Commerce. The waterway will be trans formed into a winter wonderland of twinkling lights, music and special effects as dozens of decorated boats pass by. The parade begins at 4:30 p.m. at Tilghman Point, passes by the Little River waterfront and ends at Dock Holidays Marina at 13th Avenue North in North Myrtle Beach. Vessels will compete with lights, music, decorations and special ef fects. Boat entry fee is $25, and tro phies will be presented in various categories. Spectators are asked to bring a new unwrapped toy or monetary do nation to any of the viewing sites to benefit the "Christmas is for Children" charity.
