In the Gospel of St. Matthew. Chapter 13, Verse 46, there is passage about a pearl of great price, that once you find such a gem, you must forsake all you own to honor it. Well, we don't know if we can forsake all we own to honor Pearl Stanley tonight, but we can start with the R.E. Jones Award." McAfee praised Stanley's "tire less work in helping young mothers climb from the pit of welfare, for teaching at-risk youth the value ? both monetary and spiritual ? of hard work, for giving senior citizens food and safety knowledge that will heighten the quality of their lives." Stanley, a native of Morvin, earned a bachelor's degree in home economics in 1969 and a master's degree in clothing and textiles in 1977 from N.C. Central University. She lives in Shallottc with her husb hand Elroy. They have a son.
