Five Of Nine Charges Dropped Against Confessed Reckless Driver A 24-year-old Shallotte man was given a suspended jail term and fined $150 after pleading guilty in Brunswick County District Court last week to charges of reckless dri ving, resisting arrest, failure to stop for a blue light and siren and failing to stop for a stop sign. Five other charges against the de fendant. Gregory A. Hi!! of Hale Swamp Road, were dropped as part of a plea bargain between prosecu tors and his court-appointed lawyer. Hill had also been accused of mari juana possession, speeding to elude arrest, driving a vehicle without reg istration or inspection and driving without a license, court records show. Hill was arrested at about 11:30 p.m. Aug. 12 after a one-car acci dent on U.S. 17 near the intersection with Old Shallotte Road. On the warrants, officer William Snead of the Shallotte Police Department esti mated that Hill was driving a 1978 Datsun at about 75 miles per hour while attempting to elude arTcst Judge David Wall accepted the plea arrangement and sentenced Hill to six months in jail, suspended on the condition that he pay the $150 fine and SI 75 attorney fees and not operate a motor vehicle until re-li censed. He was put on unsupervised probation for two years. Judge Wall presided over three days of district court in Bolivia last week. Assistant district attorneys Rick Green, Lillian Salcines and Bonner Stiller prosecuted Marie Jordan served as courtroom clerk. Other defendants who appeared in court last week, with their charges and judgments include: Mildred P. Allen, breaking or en tering dismissed at the close of state's evidence. Tony Keith Anderson, injury to personal property, Brunswick County Jail 30 days, suspended sen tence five years, $50 and costs, not go back around or have anything to do with plaintiff in the future.
