ing the massive health-care costs as
sociated with alcohol-related traffic
During the third week of the cam
paign. 1,222 people were charged
statewide with driving while im
paired. Law enforcement agencies
conducted enforcement activities in
all 100 counties, holding roving pa
trols and 441 DWI checkpoints.
In addition to cracking down on
impaired drivers, law enforcement
officers discovered 15.217 other vio
lations. including 219 drug charges,
22 stolen vehicles recovered and
seven fugitives apprehended.

Notice is hereby given that the Brunswick County Board ot Commissioners will
hold a public hearing on December 19, 1994 at 5:30 pm in the Commissioners
Chambers at the County Government Center to consider the following changes
to the Brunswick County Zoning Ordinance:
1.) An amendment to Article 2. Section 2.101 clarifying the definition of an
Outdoor Advertising Device:
2.) Revision of Articlo 5, Planned Unit Development (PUD) standards, to pro
vide clarification and eliminate inconsistencies concerning PUD requirements;
3.) Add as permitted uses in the R-6000 and R-7500 zone duplexes, triplexes
or multi-family structures not exceeding four units:
4.) Amend Article 5 Section 2 (Signs) to permit changeable copy movie mar
quee signs under certain conditions: and
5.) Add a new section to Article 6 to read as follows
(R) In any zoning district on a lot or parcel not in compliance with the zoning
ordinance due to more than one principal structure on the lot, manufactured
homes existing prior to January 1, 1994 with electricity and sewer connection
may be replaced one time it the proposed structure meets all other requirements
of the ordinance.
In addition, on the same day and place as mentioned above at 6 pm the fol
lowing matters shall be heard:
1.) Change in Zoning District from RU (Rural) to C-LD (Commercial-Low
Density) for all of tax parcel 1 6800043 not presently zoned C-LD. This property is
located on US 17 just west of the Brunswick Hospital;
2.) Change in zoning from R-7500 (Low Density Residential) to C-LD for the
