Food, Dishes, Trash Can Stolen In Two Break-Ins
More than $500 worth of food
and household items were reported
stolen in two break-ins that occurred
on the same street in a Bricklanding
area neighborhood recently, accord
ing to a crime report on file at the
Brunswick County Sheriff's Depart
ment Monday.
Deputy Michael Smith on Sunday
spoke with a 77-year-old Laurinburg
woman who said she returned to her
mobile home on Crane Street in the
Shangrila subdivision Sunday morn
ing and discovered that someone had
forced open a rear kitchen window.
Missing from the trailer were two
wooden chairs, a kerosene heater,
several pots and pans, a set of stain
less steel dinnerware, sheets, towels,
food from the refrigerator and a
trash can.
The total value of stolen property
was estimated to be about $410.
There was about $150 damage done
to the window, screen and molding,
Smith reported.
One day earlier, Deputy Brian
Sanders investigated a break-in on
the same street. The owner said his
trailer was secure on Nov. 18, when
he left for Salisbury. The man's son
checked the home Saturday after
noon and found the front door pried
open and $125 worth of meat miss
ing from a freezer on the front
porch.
The thief evidently used a pillow
case to cany off the food, Sanders
reported. He said the intruder "ran
sacked every room" of the resi
dence.
