Military commit tal rites were held Dec. 1 5 in Coastal Carolina State Veterans Cemetery, Jacksonville. DAVID PERRY RIFE JR. David Perrv Rife Jr. of Rife Way, Leland. died Dec. 12 in New Hanover Regional Medical Center. He was bom Sept. 29, 1924, in Welch, W.Va., the son of the late David Perry and Maggie Ellen Hambrick Rife Sr. and was preceded in death by his wife. Dorothy Ro bertson Rife. Mr. Rife was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and was retired from W.R. Grace Co. after 25 years of service. Surviving are his son, Thomas Alan Rife and wife Nita of Leland; his daughters, Brenda Crocker and husband Eddie and Linda Thompson and husband Johnny, all of Iceland; 8 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchil dren; a brother. Forest Wayne Rifle of Roanoke, Va.; and a sister, Betty Rife Kelly of Garden City, Va. Funeral services were held Dec. 15 in Andrews Mortuary, Market Street Chapel, by the Rev. Chris Hall. Burial was in Greenlawn Memorial Park. HENRIETTA MORTON DENNIS Henrietta Morton Dennis, 103, of Albemarle, died Dec. 14 at home. The funeral was held Dec. 17 at Anderson Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Roy Honeycutt, pas tor, and the Rev. R.D. Riggins offici ating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Mrs. Dennis was born Feb. 10, 1891, in Stanly County, a daughter of the late George Alexander Mor ion and Saphronia Catherine Laton Morton. He was a homemaker and had belonged to Anderson Grove Baptist for 94 years, having joined at age 9. She was the widow of Charlie Martin Dennis. Mrs. Dennis was preceded in death by two sons who lived in Brunswick County, Calvin Dennis of Uwgwood and Ed Dennis of Seaside. She is survived by three sons, Silas, Raeford and Will Tom Dennis, all of Albemarle; three daughters, Florence Frick of High Point, Ellen < Tabor of Winston-Salem and Mag- i gie Pickler of Albemarle; 30 grand children. 61 great-grandchildren, 50 great-great grandchildren and 2 great-great-great grandchildren. JESSE LEE REYNOLDS Jesse Lee Reynolds, 74, of Wil letts Drive, Boiling Spring l^kes, died Dec. 13 in Cape Fear Memorial Hospital. He was born in Brunswick County on Nov. 6, 1920, and was the son of the late Lennox and Mattie Tharpe Reynolds. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Boiling Spring Lakes and served as a deacon and trustee of the church for many years. He was re tired from Babcock and Wilcox after 22 years of service. Survivors include his wife, Mar celine Croom Reynolds of the home; three sisters, Stella Gore and Ida Pearl Sellers, both of Bolivia, and Theadecia Evans of Winnabow; three brothers-in-law, Guy Willetts of Pennsylvania, Alfred Willetts of Bolivia and Jene Willetts of Wilm ington; and several nieces and nep hews. E-uneral services were held Dec. 15 in the First Baptist Church of Boiling Spring Lakes with the Rev. Avery Lumsden and the Rev. David Woodley officiating. Burial was in the Wi Notts Ccwclerv. META CHRISTINA ESTER DRISCOLL Mela Christina Ester Driscoll of last Yacht Drive, Long Beach, died Dec. 13 in Dosher Hospital, South port She was born in Rochester, N.Y., on July 13, 1910, the daughter of the late Henry Jacob and Lena Weber f -stcr, and was preceded in death by her husband. Graveside services were held Dec. 17 at Rockfish Presbyterian Church Cemetery by the Rev. Dr. Glen Holt. Surviving are three brothers, James E. "Pete" Melvin and Tommy Melvin, both of Fayetteville, and Ronnie Melvin of Atlanta; two sis ters, Mildred Hall of Linden and Nancy Korener of Dallas, Texas; and her stepmother, Zola Brisson of Fayetteville. GERTRUDE COOK BEAVER Gertrude Cook Beaver, 97, of Autumn Care, Shallotte died Dec. 14 at The Brunswick Hospital after several years of declining health. Born in Chatham County, she was the wife of James Edd Beaver and the daughter of the late Gaston Hanks Cook and Mary McBane Cook. She belonged to the First Baptist Church of Graham. A funeral service was held Dec. 17 at Rich & Thompson Chapel, Graham with the Rev. Marshall Old, pastor of First United Methodist Church of Graham, officiating. Burial was in Graham Memorial Park. She is survived by two daughters. Alma B. Anderson of Holden Beach and Carmen Johnson of Graham; a son, James Edd Beaver Jr. of Durham; five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. She was pre ceded in death by a daughter, Mary Lee Warren. MARGARET R. ROLAND Margaret R. Roland of Gate 10, Carolina Shores, died Dec. 18 in The Brunswick Hospital. Born in Washington, D.C., on March 3, 1906, she was a daughter of the late John and Blanche Ward Clinkscales and widow of L.B. Roland. She was a homemaker and a longtime resident of northern Virg inia before moving to Calabash six years ago. Surviving are her son, Robert L. Roland and wife Jeanne of Cala bash; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. The funeral will take place Friday, Dec. 23, at 11:30 a.m. in Vienna Baptist Church on Marshall Road, Vienna, Va., by the Rev. Lawrence Matthews. She was the daughter of the late Ruth Norris Furr and Clarence Pres ley. She was assistant coordinator for Brunswick County EMS. Surviving are her husband, Curtis "Buddy" Freeman; a son, Ted Curtis Freeman of Long Beach; and a sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Billy J. Williams of Ash. The funeral was held Dec. 19 in the Chapel of Brunswick Funeral Service, Shallotte, by the Rev. Char lie Smith and the Rev. J. A. Rogers. Entombment was in Brunswick Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. MAXINE CLEMMONS FULCHER Maxine Clemmons Fulcher, 90, of Southport died Dec. 18 at The Brunswick Hospital. She was bom in Brunswick County on Oct. 22, 1904, and was the daughter of the late Rev. Alfred Wright Clemmons and Virginia Coleman Clemmons. She was a for mer housemother at Mars Hill College and a retired nurse. She was a member of Southport Baptist Church. She is survived by two grandchil dren, Phillip A. Fulcher III of Port Orange, Fla., and Susan E. Fulcher of Raleigh; a sister, Virginia C. Walton of Bolivia; three brothers, Andrew W. Clemmons of Southport, Moody M. Clemmons of Clayton and Junious C. Clemmons of Summerfield, Fla.; and a very spe cial niece, Gail Beck of Holden Beach.
