CLUB BRIEFS Calabash Post Visits Hospitalized Veterans Calabash Post 7288, Veterans of Foreign Wars and Ladies Auxiliary, brought their own brand of Christmas cheers to patients of the Veterans Administration Hospital in Fayetteville Dec. 10. The men brought a television set and the ladies brought a vidoecasette recorder. They also brought fruits, ditty bags, cupcakes, cookies, soda, cakes and pies. A bingo game was held in the au ditorium for veterans able to attend. Others were visited in their rooms by Post 7288 members who distrib uted gifts and visited. Member Herb Oellerich said, "The smiles from our comrades who are confined in the hospital as we departed was for all of us the best Christmas present we could remem ber for a long time." Seniors To Meet , Eat Town Creek Senior Citizens Club will hold its regular monthly meet ing Thursday, Jan. 5, at noon at the Town Creek Park Community Buil ding on U.S. 17 in Winnabow. It will be a covered dish meeting with each person bringing his or her favorite dish. Newly elected president Herb Young said the meeting will be a planning session with committee ap pointments and program decisions for the calendar year. Young said all seniors in Town Creek Township and surrounding ar eas are invited. VFW Aids Needy Members and auxiliarists of Cala bash VFW Post No. 7288 will start the new year with a breakfast at the post in Calabash Sunday, Jan. 8, from 9 a.m. until noon. Cost will be $3.50 per person "served and cooked the way you like it," said spokesman Mary Bcncs. Starting in February the breakfast will become a regular event held the first Sunday of every month, same time, same place. At Christmas the group provided 16 boxloads of food to give to needy families and "adopted" four fami lies, filling the children's wish lists, she said. Retired School Personnel To Meet Brunswick County Retired School Personnel will meet at the Southport Western Sizzlin at 10:30 a.m. Jan. 9. The program will be on health in surance, presented by Pearl Stanley, Brunswick County Cooperative Extension homemaker. Further meetings are scheduled for Feb. 13 at 10 a.m. at Kirby's Sizzling Sirloin in Shallotte; April 10 at 10:30 a.m. at Southport Western Sizzlin; and May 8 at 10 a.m. at Kirby's Sizzling Sirloin.
