Local Groups Bringing Musical Revue To County When Sue Henry of the Pamlico County Recreation Department first thought of bringing Razz-Ma Tazz, a 25 member musical revue company, from Greensboro to Oriental on Memorial Day weekend, she was afraid there might be too much work involved for one group to handle all the local arrangements. In past years she might have dropped the idea for lack of a co-sponsor. This year there was no such problem. She simply asked the Pelican Players, who jumped at the opportunity to help. “We decided this year was the year the Pelican Players should start to become an active force in this county,’’ Mike Bivona, presi dent of the Pelican Players, said. He cited programs such as direc tor Ed Devany’s talk at the Inland Waterway Treasure Company in Oriental, and actor Tim Mor risey’s presentation on Shakespeare at the Oriental Marina, as examples of the types of programs open to the public which the Pelican Players co hosted this year. “We’re doing what we can to help bring, not just our own programs, but a variety of theater and theater-related events to the county. It’s a growth process, for the community and for us.” Thanks to the combined efforts of the Recreation Department and the Pelican Players, and with the financial assistance of the Pamlico County Arts Council, Razz-Ma-Tazz will be putting on a dynamic, rollicking musical revue featuring the dance and music of the 50s and 60s on Saturday, May 25, at 8:15 at the Oriental Women’s Club field.
