Auction To Be Held AtHobucken The Goose Creek Island Volunteer Fire Department Ladies’ Auxiliary will sponsor an Auction Sale April 27, 12:00 noon, at the old Hobucken School building in Hobucken. A licensed auctioneer will be in charge. The VFD will receive 10 percent, auc tioneer and staff 10 percent and the seller 80 percent of each sale. The success of this event depends upon the amount of mer chandise the auxiliary receives to be auctioned. Please look through garage and attics to see what you might have to contribute. Remember, one man’s junk is another’s treasure. Please call 745-4207 or 745-4934 or contact any member of the ladies’ auxiliary. Merchandise already obtained includes a Dixie boat and trailer, .boat camper, leather baseball shoes, dishwasher, pool laoies, tools, wardrobe, TV set, dinette set and chairs, dryer, CB rqdio, car radios, hedge trimmers, afghan, furniture and small ap pliances. Drinks, hotdogs and popcorn will be on sale. Come early and look over the goods. A drawing for a ceiling fan will also be held. Junior High Fashion Show The Future Homemakers of America Club at Pamlico Junior High School will present a “Swing into Spring” fashion show on Wednesday night, April 24, begin ning at7:00pm in the PJHS gym. Tickets will be $1.00 each and the public is invited to attend and view the latest fashions provided by several local merchants. Post 9492 is sponsoring a bike-a-thon and bar beque to help support the fight against Cystic Fibrosis. The bike-a thon will begin at 2:00 pm, Sunday, April 28, at the Post home on Main Street. The riders will begin the 20 mile ride by leaving the Post east on Main Street, south on First to NC 33, east on 33 to State Road 1002, south on 1002 to the old Bayboro Salvage building and return to the Post. There will be several pickup trucks with refreshments along the route and to pick up any riders who can’t complete the ride. At the present time, there are 52 riders so all motorists along this route are urged to be on the lookout and use extreme care. Two hogs will be barbequed that day and plates will be sold at the Post beginning at 4:00 pm. Plates will be $4.00 each with all proceeds going to the Cystic Fibrosis Foun dation. All of the riders will be served free. The riders are asked to bring their sponsor sheets with them. Anyone desiring to ride or to help in any way to make this event a big success will be welcomed. Reelsboro News by Mildred Buck A surprise birthday dinner was given Mahue Buck at Brantley’s Village Restaurant in Oriental. It was given by his wife, children and grandchildren on Sunday, April 14. On Sunday night, the members of Reelsboro Christian Church honored Mr. Buck with a banquet in honor of his 90th birthday with music by the Prescott family. Kate Lee has entered Craven County Hospital Thursday for treatment. We had news Sunday night that she was improving. _ ' John Hodge had foot surgery last Saturday. We hope for him a speedy recovery.
