Carl Britt is sick with tonsilitis at the home of his parents. Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Britt. Mrs. C. C. White returned Satur day from a week's stay at Duke Hospital. Mrs. White expects to re turn to the hospital within the next two or three .weeks, when she will probably undergo an operaion. Little Sonny Stillman, who has been sick for some time, and who was taken to a Norfolk hospital last week, where his case was diagnosed as -chronic appendicitis, is much improv ed. Sonny will probably undergo an operation in the near future. Judge Walter H. Oakey, Jr., re turned Saturday from a business trip to Roanoke, Va. Mrs. W. P. Skinner, of Elizabeth City, visited her aunt, Mrs. Rosser Brinn, on Wednesday. F. M. Weeks, who has been in Norfolk with his wife, who is a pa tient in a hospital there, returned home on Monday. MISSIONARY MEETING The Woman's Missionary Union of Piney Woods Church met at the home of Mrs. T. C. Perry, with Mrs. Nor man Win3low and Mrs. V. C. Lane as assistant hostesses. The meeting opened with a hymn, "The Light of the World is Jesus." The devotional was conducted by Mra. S. M. Wins low. Nineteen members answered roll call with Scripture text on "Light" The lesson from the study book, "Japanese Women peak," was pre sented by Mrs. Sarah Layden A life sketch of Alice L. Riddick were hosts Thursday evening to the Melody Makers Music Club. An interesting program was given, in which all the members played mu sical selections and gave readings. The club decided to federate with the State Federation of Music Clubs at once. Officers elected for the effiuihg year were Ruth Hollowell, president; Richard Spivey, vice president; For die Feild, second vice president; Ruth Winslow, secretary and Elizabeth Darden, treasurer.
