T. R. Winslow and her little daughter, Bettie Anne, have returned from Burgaw, where they visited Mrs. Miles Kornegay. ' Mrs. R. T. DIVERS ENTERTAINS MEMBERS OF HER BRIDGE CLUB Mrs. Turner Given Birthday Dinner Mrs. G. I Turner and Mrs. Elmer Banks entertained at a birthday dinner Sunday at the home of Mrs. G. T. Turner at New Hope, in honor of the birthday of their mother, Mrs. Sophia Simpson. The dining room was beautifully decorated with yellow and white chrysanthemums. A beautiful birth day cake formed the centerpiece on the dining table. The guests includ ed the honoree's children and grandchildren. Mrs. W. M. Divers, Jr., was host ess to the members of her bridge cjub at her home at New Hope on Wedneday afternoon. Two tables were arranged and those playing included Mrs. M. M Spivey, Miss , Vida Banks, Miss Laura Wood Goodman, Mrs. E. M. Perry, Mrs. J. A. Sawyer, Mrs. R. R. Perry, and Mrs. R. L. Spivey, Jr. Dainty refreshments were served. MISS DOROTHY MAE HOFFLER SINGS OVER WTAR FRIDAY Miss Dorothy Mae Hoffler sang over WTAR, Norfolk, Va., on Friday night of last week in an amateur program. Miss Hoffler, who has an unusually sweet voice, was a great favorite while a student in the Per quimans High School. Her song, which delighted her Hertford friends on Friday night was "Bells of St. Mary's." B. C. BERRY BETTER B. C. Berry, of Morgan's Modern Grocery, has been sick this week with an attack of malaria. His condition is improving. RECOVERING FROM ACCIDENT Mrs. S. P. The Seventh grade won the prize for having the largest percentage of parents and patrons present A very interesting program was planned by the program committee. Harrell, special agent for tne Bureau of the .Census, Depart ment of Commerce, reports that there were 1,694 bales of cotton tin ned in Perquimans County from the crop of 1935 prior, to October 18, as compared with 2,692 bales ginned to uctooer 18, crop of 1934. . .
