Honor 60h Birthday .Mrs. Eugene Rempson of Norfolk entertained at a lovely surprise birthday party in honor of the 60th birthday anniversary of her mother, Mrs. S. I. Cullipher, at Mrs. Cul lipher's home on Pender Road Wed nesday evening. . ' Contests and . games were enjoyed during the evening with Mrs. Jake Basnight and Mrs.' E. Y. Berry win ning high score prizes and Mrs. W. M. Harrell winning low score prize. A delicious ice course was served with the George Washington idea carried out in the decorations and refreshments in the national colors. Mr. and Mrs. Winston Lane enter tained a number of guests at dinner Sunday in honor of the fourth birth day anniversary of their little son. A linen cloth covered the table, which was centered' with a beautiful birthday cake holding four dainty candles. A three course, dinner was served to the folldwing guests: Mr. and Mrs. J. B. I ' By "WHFTIE" The Hertford Indians kept in the win column again last Friday night when they took their fifth straight win by defeating a scrappy Harrel lsville quint in the recently complet ed gymnasium. The final whistle found the game 28 to 18 with the Indian warriors out in front. At the beginning of the third quarter the Harrellsville boys tied up the score, but the Indians hit their stride the last quarter running up ten points. The lady Indians with a small lead at the end of the first half, were defeated in the second half by a hard driving and passiiur Harrells ville sextette. The Hertford lassies played a very good game but were unable to check the girls from Harrellsville. Monday night on the local hard wood the Indians took a track meet from Harrellsville by the one-sided score of 69 to 11. The Indians had no trouble pene trating the Harrellsville defense and found the strings with great accura- This was a yery lop-sided affair but it showed the fans that the boys have a team this year that is really', going places. The girls game with Harrellsvflte was a thriller. With the lady In dians in the lead at the beginning f the final quarter, the Harrellsville? lassies with a burst of speed tied the scene and the game ended with the score in a deadlock. Thus the lady Indians have their first tie of th.es season. The Indians will leave today for Norfolk, where they will play Wood row Wilson tonight. Saturday night, the Indians will tangle with Oceana,, returning Sunday from their tide water trip to work into shape for the tournament. MISSIONARY CIRCLE The Ida Patterson Circle of the Missionary Society of the Hertford! Baptist Church met on Tuesday night. at the home of Mrs. Tim Gregory. with Mrs. M. G. Gregory, chairman. presiding. After the business sessions and program there was a social hour when the hostess served dainty re freshments.
