Negro Missionary At Winfall School Speaks to Colored Stu dents at Perquimans Training School Dr. Boone, a Negro missionary to Africa, who is spending sometime in the United States, was at Winfall this week and gave an interesting program at the Perquimans Training School, the Negro school. . .., ,, There are 305 students enrolled at this school, which under the direction of Prof. K. A. Williams, an out standing member of his race, is do ing fine work. The various school organizations have been formed, with the Student Council electing the following officers of that body: President, Nearest Lightfoot; vice president, Reatha Steward; secretary, Velma Hunter; assistant secretary, Ovella Martin; treasurer, Janie Felton; chairman of social committee, Ella Mae Green; chairman of program committee, Marian Billups; publicity committee, Solomon Parker; adviser, Prof. K. A Williams. Approximately 20 girls went out for basketball, the following officers being elected in the Athletic Asso ciation: President, Mary Ella Reese; vice president, Christana Hawkins; secretary, Ovella Martin; assistant secretary, Mildred Felton; coaches, Beatrice C. Jones and Pennie Ellen Perry. The officers of the Dramatic Club are as follows: President, Velma Hunter; vice president, William Hof fler; treasurer, Nearest Lightfoot; stage directors, Lula Mae Wynn, Ethel Winslow, Stanley J acock; cos tume directors, Wylvia White, Malin da Turner, Esther Eason; chairman of social committee, Lossie Eason; chairman of program committee, Ar zula Winslow; adviser, Beatrice C. Jones. There are two new teachers this year, Beatrice C. Jones, of Hender son, who teaches French and English; and Pennie Ellen Perry, of Wendell, who teaches Science. Joliiff, of Gatesvflle, visited relatives here last week. Mrs. Walter Dail and her daughter, Rebecca, have returned to their home at Murfreesboro, after spending a week here with Mrs. Dail's parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Baker. ! Charlie E. Winslow, Jr., of Nor folk, Va., is visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Winslow, Sr. . .Miss. Clara Winslow spent last week in Norfolk, Va., with her sister, Mrs. Earl Cullipher. Miss Onella Winslow, Merrill Wins low, Leland Winslow, Carroll Wil liams, Fentress Winslow and Archie B. White spent the week-end in Greensboro with Mrs. Jesse Osborne and attended the Young Friends Conference. Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Winslow and daughters, Misses Alma and Eleanor, from near Cross Roads, spent Satur day morning with Mrs. A. N. Winslow. Miss Lorna Brothers, of Speed, was the guest of Miss Winnie Wins low Saturday. Mr. ana Mrs. J. T. Winslow arei visiting their son, Eddie Winslow, and his family, at Corapeake. Mrs. Rosser Brinn, Mrs. Ernest Reed, Mrs. L. C. Winslow, Betty Jean and Marjorie Winslow, of Hertford, and Mrs. Eugene Winslow spent Wednesday of last week with Mrs. A. N. Winslow. Mrs. Irvin L. White and son, Irvin, spent Tuesday with her mother, Mrs. A. N. Winslow. Mrs. Joseph Winslow and small son visited her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Winslow, Wednesday. Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Winslow and Miss Sallie Riddick visited their brother, George Riddick, and Mrs. Riddick, at Trotville, Sunday after-nopn. Harry Smith, last Wednesday. Miss Mary Elizabeth White spent Sunday with Mrs. J. L. Nixon, at Winfall. Mr. and Mrs. C. B. White visited Mrs. Effie Miller Sunday afternoon.
