Last May we celebrated our 29th anniversary. It
was with deep regret we were unable to hold our
usual anniversary sale . . . but, frankly, folks, mer
chandise has been very scarce and it has been im
possible for us to maintain our large stock of com
plete furnishings for the home, but we want you to
know that we have appreciated the business you
have given us during the past 29 years, and also we
appreciate the patience you have shown us in wait
ing for merchandise to arrive at our store.
Due to the scarcity of merchandise, we will be un
able to hold our usual Fall Harvest Sale, but we still
have one of the largest stocks of Furniture to be
found in the Albemarle and at prices you will find
are as low as any other store.
..... ....
During the coming months, until Victory has
been won and our nation can resume its normal busi
ness, we shall endeavor to do everything possible to
serve our friends and customers. Many items are
hard to get, and when ordered, it takes considerable
time' for the shipment to come through. Therefore,
we ask your continued cooperation and patience.
There is no indication that Furniture will become
more plentiful until after the war ... so we advise
you to make the best of everything and invest as
much money as you possibly can in war bonds and
stamps.
Perquimans County has received a challenge it
must meet . . . just like the boys on the front lines
meet each and every day. Perquimans County has
been asked by Uncle Sam to buy a total of .S2(1.000
worth of War Bonds and Stamps during the Third
War Loan Drive which starts next Thursday. c
can meet this goal providing each and every one
helps our War Finance Committee in the task of
raising this money.
We all can't serve as Soldiers or Sailors, Marines
or Coast Guards-men, but we can serve by making
our dollars do the job. War is a costly thing and
millions, even billions of dollars must be raised to in
sure complete victory over the enemy.
Rack the attack our boys are making on Hitler
and the Japs with money invested in War Ronds.
The boys are sacrificing everything . . . even their
lives, so certainly we can loan our money to Uncle
Sam to hasten the day of Victory.
The members of the War Finance Committee will
shortly call on you for the purpose of selling you War
Ronds ... be prepared to buy every possible bond . . .
invest in today's best value. Ronds range in prices
from $18.75 up to ten thousand dollars. Your War
Finance Committee can inform you about all the de
tails of interest paid.
