HELEN GAITHER CLUB MEETS The Helen Gaither Home Demon stration Club met on Tuesday even ing with Mrs. C. S. Jackson. The meeting was called to order by the president and "Come Thou Almighty King" was sung. The Club repeated the Collect and the Lord's Prayer. The minutes of tne last meeting were read and approved and the roll was called. Mrs. Jesse Cheston and Miss An nie Parker were appointed to get up the Christmas program. Miss Maness gave a very interest ing demonstration on "No Space to Waste." Mrs. Jackson read a nurarraph r.r. "The I'se of Swept Potatoes." Mrs. Milton Dail, recreation leader, gave two interesting contests. The hostess served sweet potato pie and cold drinks to the following: Mesdames Jake White, Jesse Ches son, J. T. Mrs. Oakey welcomed the guests at the door and Mrs. Nat Tucker in vited them into the dining room. Mrs. Thomas Nixon poured tea and Mrs. Lloyd Horton and Miss Manesa assisted with the serving. The table was lovely with a wliiii lace cloth and a graceful centerpiece of white chrysanthemums. Approximately 50 guests called I during the afternoon. HOSTESS TO BRIDGE CLUB Miss Mary Wood Koonce deligh fully entertained the members of htfr bridge club on Wednesday evening. Those playing were Mrs. Vivian Matthews, Mrs. W. E. Drake, Mrs. Jesse Lee Harris. Miss Helen Vick. Miss Helen Willoughby, Mrs. Al Kenton, Miss Murle Chapman, Miss Nettie Day,' Miss Joyce Harrell, Mrs. R. E. Vickers, Miss Dot Harris, of Elizabeth City, and the hostess. High score prize went to Miss Chapman, low to Mrs. Matthews, and Miss Willoughby received the floating prize. During the evening the hostess served a delicious sweet course. W. M. S. MET MONDAY The Woman's Missionary Society of the Hertford Baptist Church met on Monday evening at the church, with Mrs. I. A. Ward, president, presiding. f'The Morning Light Is Breaking" was used as the opening hymn, after which Mrs. L. W. Norman offered prayer. Minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. Mrs. H. G. JDawldns was in charge of a very interesting program, her topic being ''Christian Heroism." Those taking part on the program wen Mrs. Hudson Butler, Mrs. Mark Gregory,' Mrs. ' T. L: Jessiip.
