O, FRIDAY, JANUARY lfl, 1948. v GLOVER-WHITE Mr. and Mrs. .:, Robert Anderson White have the honor of announcing the marriage of their daughter, Mar tha Bernice, to Robert Charles Glov er, U. S. Air Corps, on Friday, the 9th of January, 1948. The marriage took place at the Post Chapel at Langley Field, Va. In Portsmouth Mrs. Nellie Walker spent the week end with Mr. and Mrs. V. T. Hill at Portsmouth, Va. At Rocky Mount Mrs. G. E. Newby left this week for Rocky Mount where she will visit Mr. and Mrs. G. E. Newby, Jr. Visiting Here Mrs. Ralph Wallace and daughter of Washington, D. G, are the guests of Mr. and Mrs. B. G. Koonce. Lt -Commander Wallace left for the West Coast Sunday where he has been transferred, and Mrs. Wallace and daughter will join him later. On Sick List Mrs. T. S. White, Sr., is confined to the home of her daughter, Mrs. W. H. Pitt this week because of sickness. On Sick List Kermit Lane, Jr., is confined to his home this week because of sickness. Improving Miss Joyce Butt, who underwent an operation for appendicitis in the Albemarle Hospital, Elisabeth City, last week, is much improved. Sunday Guests Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Miller, Sr., from Clavarack, N. Y., spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Newbold en route to Florida. From New Jersey Mr. and Mrs. Harry Bedell from Ridgewood, N. J., spent several days last week with Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Towe. Mr. and Mrs. Towe and their guests spent Friday and Saturday at Pinehurst, N. C. MART TOWE'S MEET The Mary Towe Missionary Circle held its' regular monthly meeting Monday night, January 12, at the home of Mrs. Nellie Walker. There were thirteen members and two visi tors present One new member join ed the society at this meeting. Miss Ruth Elliott, new president for 1948, presided over the meeting. Miss Davey Jo Lumsden and Mrs. J. L. Harris gave the devotional. HOSTESS TO BRIDGE CLUB Mrs. W. H. Hardcastle was hostess to her bridge club last Thursday evening at her home on Dobb Street. Those playing were Mesdames C. A. Davenport, W. H. .Pitt, Trim Wilson, J. R. Futrell, S. P. Jessup, Clyde Mc Callum, J. H. Newbold, Miss Mae Wood Winslow. The high score prize went to Miss Winslow.
