Mrs. Pat Hoggard, mistress of ceremony, wore a lace trimmed black sheer dress - with black accessories - and a corsage of yellow roses at the waist. ' r v The toride's mother wore a dress of purple crepe with black accessories and a corsage of lilies. The mother . of the bridegroom wore a powder .. blue crepe dress and her flowers were ;. Talisman roses. , Immediately after the ceremony the wedding guests were received by "the- bride and groom and their at tendants ag they entered the house for the reception. Mrs. W. A. Hog- . gard directed the guests to the gift - room, where Mrs. G. H. Webb of Elizabeth City and Mrs. D. J. White, Jr., of Tampa, Florida, presided. Mrs. Carroll Byrum of Edenton invit ed the guests to register in the Ibride's book. Mrs. Pailen Lane of , Hertford received in the dining room 'which was decorated with bowls of white gladioli and asters with fern : and huckleberry. The entire scene was lighted by tapers in silver can ' delabra. The table was centered with s the punch bowl, presided over by Mrs. Mary Bray and on either end were crystal stands containing bridal mints and individual bridal cakes in green and white. , k The- guests were served by Mrs. Gaston Banks and Mrs. B. T. Bray, assisted by Misses Ann Bray and Sally White. Mrs. Ben Whiteley presided on the south veranda, where tables and chairs were placed. Mrs. A. R. Cook said goodbys. For going away the bride changed to a black and white ensemble with black accessories. She wore a cor sage of roses lifted from her bridal bouquet After a short trip, Mr. and Mrs. Webb will be at home in Hertford. Prior to the wedding date the bride was entertained at several parties in cluding a miscellaneous shower given August 27th by Miss Ethel Frances Elliott and Miss , Mary Sue Cook at Miss Elliott's home in Hertford. Mr. and Mrs. J. K Bray of Hert ford Route 3 entertained at a dinner party for the bridal party on Tues day evening, August 31st. The bride was presented a piece of silver in her chosen pattern. On Thursday evening Mrs. Hilton White was hostess for a miscellaneous shower for the bride , at the bride's home. Following the rehearsal on Friday night Mrs. Lester Jordan entertained for her sister at a cake cutting at home. The dining room was decorat ed with garden flowers and lighted with burning white tapers in silver candelabra. The table, covered with a lace cover, displayed a three-tiered wedding cake. After being first cut by the bride, the cake was served by Mrs. W. S. Hoggard. Assisting in serving an ice course were Mrs. Wen dell Matthews and Mrs. J. S. Bray. BAKER-RIDDICK VOWS SOLEMNIZED IN GATES VILLE In aquiet but impressive ceremony which was solemnized in the Gates ville Baptist parsonage Wednesday night, September 8, at 7:30 o'clock, Miss Mary Lorene Riddick, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Riddick, of Bel videre became the bride of Lester Ju lian Baker, son of Mr. and Mrs. C. F. Baker of Belvidere, with the Rev. T. Sloane Guy officiating, using the double ring ceremony. The maid of honor was Miss Irma Hudgins of Suffolk, Va., who was at tired in a blue crepe dress with black accessories. The best man was Clarence Wins low of Belvidere. The only other at tendant was Clifford Wmslow, also of Belvidere. Mrs. Baker is a graduate of Hobbs ville High School. Mr. Baker is a graduate of Per quimans High School and a prominent farmer of Perquimans County. After the ceremony Mr. and Mrs. Baker left for a wedding trip to his torical points in Virginia.
