The Greenville BPW Club issued
invitations to the ten BPW clubs in
the Seventh' District to attend a din
ner meeting of the North Carolina
Federation of Business and Profes
sional Women's Clubs, Inc., which was
held last Thursday night t the Wo
man's Club in Greenville. Mrs. Ruth
Weeks, president of the Greenville
Club presided. Miss Ada Jones gave
the welcome address and the response
was given by Mrs. .Ellen Nunnelee,
president of the Washington Club.

The district director. Mrs. Cather
ine Walsh of Greenville had charge
of the district business. Recommend
ations from district project chairmen
were presented. Mrs. J. B. Spillman,
legislation and public affairs, talked
briefly on socialized medicine and the
expansion of Social Security; educa
tion and vocations, Mrs. Ruby Blythe,
Rocky Mount; health and safety, Hil
da Rae Pinkham, Washington; inter
national relations. Josie Moore, Ro
anoke Rapids. Reports were given by
each president and club members rec
ognized. The nominating committee
reported Miss Mildred Dozier of
Rocky Mount was chosen to succeed
Mrs. Walsh as Seventh District di
rector. Mrs. Blythe, 1949 State Convention
chairman, announced the Seventh
District will be hostess and discussed
the duties of each club at the con
vention to be held at Atlantic Beach,
Morehead City, June 17, 18, 19. The
Perquimans club will have charge of
transportation. Two members will
be asked to help with the registra
tion and two members will be asked'
to help make up the district chorus,
one soprano and also one alto will be

breakfast and the program. The
president urges all members who plan
to attend to let her know as soon as
possible (don't wait for a meeting)
as definite plans must be made. All
reservations must be made through
her and 'she suggests that they be
made immediately as all the best
rooms will be taken first -Reserva
tions have been sent in since Janu
ary, and Mrs. Ayscue of Morehead
City informed them reservations were
coming in every day. The conven
tion will open with the registrations
8:30 Friday morning, June 17, and
will close with the Sunday morning
breakfast June 19 If members can
not attend all three days, attend as
many as possible, but make reserva
tions now.

club were Mesdames Lawrence Towe,
J. H. Bagley, Tom Perry, James Wil
der, Earl Perry and W. E. Dail.

James Wilder accompanied them to
Greenville.

BURGESS CLUB MEETS
The Burgess Home Demonstration
Club' met Tuesday afternoon at the
home of Mrs. J. A. Ayscue. The
meeting was opened by singing "Am
erica," followed by Scripture from
John 15 and vnraver by Mrs. J. R.
Ayscue. The roll was called and the
minutes of the last meeting read and
approved.
Mrs. Winston Lane was appointed
to collect for Red Cross. Mrs. J. B.
Basnight was appointed to give the
county report at the spring Federa
tion meeting.
Final plans for a joint meeting in
March were made. Miss Nina Bras
well gave a very interesting demon
stration on "Citizenship," assisted by
Mrs. Tommie Mathews and Mrs. A.
M. Copeland. The meeting closed by
repeating the collect in unison.
During the social hour Mrs. Ayscue
conducted a tree contest, with Mrs.
Sidney Layden winning the prize.
