POULTRY TIPS By I. C YAGELk County Agent, v Pullets should be well developed be fore they are placed in the laying house. One of the best ways to have well developed and healthy pullets is to grow them on a good range. Tender green feed such as Ladino clover1 Is palatable and highly relish ed by the birds. Soybeans and field peas will usually furnish green feed during the hot, dry months. Move the range shelter and feed hoppers as needed to make better use of the green feed on the range. Mash and water should be available at all times while the birds are on range. The mash should be kept in outdoor or covered feed hoppers to protect it from the rain and sun. Water fountains should be shaded to help keep the water cool. When the pullets are removed from the range, they should be placed in cool laying quarters. Keep the ven- The harm of pressure groups is the tilators and windows open to make suppression of individual thinking. the i.ouse cooler. The early pullets will not continue, to gain in body weight and increase in egg production if the house is hot. , J Control Lice and Mitea r Check for lice and mites as warm weather is -ideal for their (presence. Dusting with , sodium; fluoride or painting the roost poles with a paint late in the afternoon, will control lice. Mites differ from lice in that they are sucking insects and feed on the birds at night, then hide in the roost poles in the daytime. Control lice and mites by a thorough ap plication of equal parts of used motor oil and kerosene. Pity The Teacher As .the class had been told , to write an essay on Lincoln one of the pupils wrote" Abraham Lincoln was born on a bright summer day, the 12th of Februrary, 1809.
